Bonding canvas to aluminum?
Has anyone tried to bond canvas to aluminum? I want to use deck, or other heavy-duty canvas to cover the hinges on my punt doors that run the length of the cockpit to help waterproof, but am not sure how easy this is to do. I know it has been done before because I ripped old canvas off the aluminum deck when I took the old doors off, but don't know what was used originally if there is a suitable product out there. Any ideas?

The bilge pump is set up but I am hoping to avoid using it too much!
Any particular type of rubber cement?
I was considering trying this stuff too: https://www.uphsup.com/p-78-adhca393...n-per-can.aspx

Clean the aluminum really good and use a good epoxy and it should stick.

Get some Hypalon glue used on inflatable boats from Kits Inflatables in Vancouver or GA Checkpoint in Pt. Moody.
It bonds boat fabric, or other to wood, metal and fibreglass. Make sure you scuff up the surface and clean extremely
well with acetone or MEK before applying and follow the instructions.

I would use a strips of aluminum flat bar and sandwich the canvas then screw it down. When the canvas needs replacing undo the strips and replace. K

That would work well too. Given the mess that remains from the glue after pulling off the old canvass this is probably a good approach. I was hoping to avoid any more drilling but will look in to it.
The challenge I am having now is finding decent canvas.
Boat is looking awesome so far though - new doors, floors and paint. Ducks are getting nervous...

I decided to screw the canvas down. I found some heavy gauge stuff at a sewing shop on East Hastings (Funny, did not seem to be many hunters there) that was on clearance for $5/metre. Got it on and painted. Looks good.
