get rid of your trigger release, no trigger means no punching.

Because of my shoulder issue, I can only use a trigger release. (Can't roll my wrist over)
If you are using an index finger release shorten it up so that the trigger is in the second knuckle. You will make horrible shots if you try to punch the trigger with it set like this, so you will need to learn to pull through the shot rather than flicking your finger to make it go off. When you get it your consistency will improve greatly, meaning your bad shots will be less bad. Fair warning tho..... in archery always expect to get worse before you get better when you make a form change, just trust the change and work at it and it will pay off.

I've shot a hinge release for the first time this summer and stuck with it, and am making far better shots than I used to when I would punch trigger. Time will tell but I'm hoping it translates to better shots on game at the moment of truth as well.
Well I shortened up my trigger release and it seems to help not to slap the trigger more or a squeeze and focusing on my follow threw

I'm not an archer so can someone please enlighten my on this term "punching your shot" I have an idea what it might be, I've heard this term used a few times per year and I just want to be certain of what it is. I think I even heard someone use this term while a hunting show was on but they were using rifles and that really had me scratching my head over that reference. If someone could provide the non-archers a little education on the term that would be appreciated. Thanks.
