Meindl glockner users and Hanwag users
I am finally done with my Makula Pro 3000's which i loved but they are not making them anymore. Tried on a pair of Glockners, anyone have any experience with them?
Also thinking about trying on the Hanwag Alaskan's but have read a few negatives about rand separation... thoughts?
Re: Meindl glockner users and Hanwag users
I wore Glockners as my first 'serious' mountain boot, likely back in 2002 or so when I was guiding. I remember them to be built really well and at the time fit me good. They lasted a decent amount of time for a young kid not taking good care of them haha.
Re: Meindl glockner users and Hanwag users
My feet fit really well in to Meindl boots, and I found that Hanwags just didn't fit the same ... for me. I've been wearing the same pair of Canada Pro's (the made in Germany model, not the Cabelas version) since 2011 and while they have many miles on them and could really use new soles the rest of the boot is still G2G. Not sure if they still make them or not and it looks like the Meindl Germany site call them the Bergen GTX. Similar to the Glockner.
YMMV,

Re: Meindl glockner users and Hanwag users
Im on my 3rd set of soles on my Hanwag Alaskans. I have used these boots hard and have zero complaints. Might break down and buy a new pair this summer if I get my goat LEH.

Also look at the Lowe Tibet GTX. I had Meidl's before these, and very happy with the product.

Re: Meindl glockner users and Hanwag users
I've got a pair of almost new glockners for sale. Size 12. My foot is narrow and these are too wide for me. I've used Canada pro's; 3 sets of them until the sheep shale destroyed them. Too bad that they don't make them anymore. I paid 650 for the glockners.
Re: Meindl glockner users and Hanwag users
5 years on Hanwag Alaskans still in good shape but mind you I only wear them when going on a long hike or multi day backpack adventure. Always clean and re treat them when I get home. I will say they aren't as stiff as someone may want for steep side hilling though
Re: Meindl glockner users and Hanwag users
I have Han Wag Alaska gtx.
I hike alot and they are holding up great.
