Illegal rams, nanny goats, etc....

In the future, if someone has a concern with a ram being illegal, please report it to the CO's rather than derail someone's thread. A ram that has been CI'd and passed is deemed legal at that time, and therefore falls under HBC rule.


#6. There is to be no frowning upon a member for the method of hunting used, or the sex, age of the animal. If it's legal then it's legal no if, and, or, but!

This also applies to the harvest of Nanny goats, calf moose, spike/fork moose, antlerless deer or elk or anything else that you might not agree with but is legal at this time. If you wish to discuss the harvest of nannies or illegal rams, etc...please start your own thread discussing it, and leave other peoples threads and pictures out of it.

The CO's, the MOE and the CI's (and even the CI Grand Pooba) are in charge of hands on determination of legality of a harvested animal- Not anyone on HBC looking at pictures. If a ram is deemed illegal on initial/ further inspection, feel free to discuss.

This should not impact the "educational" aspect of judging rams, billy/nanny identification or any educational aspect. You may still post pictures on your own "educational" thread of live rams and goats for educational purposes, or seized rams that have been deemed illegal.

Very good call, Gatehouse. The threads about aging sheep and judging whether goats are nannies or billies are quite educational and useful to many of us. Hijacking a thread where someone posts a story about a legal animal (as defined by the CI) is not in good taste and does not fit with the ideals of this website.

It seems to take away from the "fun" factor of the site when the critics/experts/arm chair bios take over and start harping on people....

Most of us post pictures on here to be proud of our accomplishments, not to be hagged on by some....

If it keeps up people will tell their story of a great sheep trip (like SSS posted) and no picture of the animal at the end.:cry::cry: I agree wholeheartedly that the "legalness" of an animal that has to be CI'd, is in the hands of the inspector, not a person psychoanalyzing a picture on the net...

The short story is that, us `white`people are getting tired of all the pissing and moaning!

Let`s try to get along and realize who the real enemies are. That would be the bureaucracy.

When we get to the point of understanding that all hunter`s rights are at risk (including first nation`s rights) we may get to the same page.

Good call. It's up to us to call Rapp or the CO's to figure things out. We are not the CO's, though you might not believe that by some of the posts.

I have never considered myself to be part of the mainstream hunting population. Resident hunter in BC for almost 40 years. We hunt hard core....one shot or no shot.....hail mary is forbidden..etc.....and I cannot believe some of the comments I have read on other threads.I finally have time to explore sites like this. Lets show respect and support and leave the trash for other sites.
