Another long time HBC member passes.
Is with a heavy heart that I report the passing of HBC member Richter313 (Brad) on Sunday March 22, 2020. Brad passed due to complications of a lifetime battle with Type 1 Diabetes, he was 44. For those who may have known my brother Brad, or those who cursed him for stealing their flight of geese across the field with his deadly lesser Canada call cadence, he was an outdoorsman, conservationist and most of all a teacher. He began his hunting life with Deer and Moose trips to the Chilcotin with his dad, where his ancestry (Clarence Simmons) blazed trails guiding and outfitting ranchers back in the early years. He then caught the waterfowling bug from his Uncle and Father as a long term Surrey resident. He was often absent from class at QE, much preferring the science of ambushing a flock of migrating greenheads who made the mistake of coming anywhere neat the "truckstop" or "beehive" field down along the Serpentine in Cloverdale when the used to flood (dating myself here). He was a member of the "Local Hunters Club" and President of the "Fowl Bunch" waterfowling crew around the Cedar Hills area. In the last years Brad and myself moved our families to The Boundary for a chance to live out of doors and breath clean air, and raise our children (he was a single Dad of now 18 yr old girl) and enjoy the simpler pleasures only nature can afford us. He lived his last years in the comfort of his family and friends and the great outdoors. In closing, I want y'all to know he was a fighter to the end, the last conversation we had he was making spring bear plans to track down a big chocolate colorphase boar he had seen on cam last summer. never passed an opportunity to share his knowledge with any and all that approached, especially with the youth. We never missed an early goose opener with the kids.
He will be missed RIP brother
That's all for now

Your tribute says a lot about the man/brother/father. I'm sure he cherished life to the fullest in his later years, surrounded by family in a beautiful part of the country.
