Hahaha, yep, they're somewhat "thick" around here. Built a permanent ground blind behind the house for this season and went to sit in it this morning, but had to first slink around the doe feeding below our bedroom window without spooking her. LOL.

I always seem to neglect this thread for long than I should.
I used to call him the 'Linebacker Buck' as he has no neck compared to any other buck I've ever seen. Now I just call him 'Grampa'.

As I said, it's just great to see him out-whitting all the two and four-legged predators out there!
Cool, thanks for hanging the Grampa pics Brent.
Ole swayback! Very cool to see the transformation of gramps. Be great to give him a proper farewell;)
Cheers
A painfully slow start with insanely mild weather.
I very much look forward to this time of year....but will have to be patient a little longer.
Bucks are showing up cruising thru but all dinks.
I walked out some of the trails looking for scrapes and rubs that advertise buck rutting activity.
Found none, which was surprising.
What I did find were a few wolf tracks.
I have seen tracks before and followed them out.
Always headed in one direction and not stopping so my concerns about their presence were minimal from an impact perspective.
This time it appears a wolf is active in the area based on the tracks.
Be curious how this plays out and affects deer activity.
Desperately need some snow on the ground.
To kill some time before things go off here's a few videos

Time has proven that.

Cooler weather and snow in the forecast for late this week.
Let the fun begin!!
Personally I cant wait
My observation with whitetails, ( in a decent whitetail area) is that if you dont have big mature bucks on cam already you will at best just catch a few one hit wonders. The odd buck just passing through, going outside his normal haunts just a bit , all in search of hot does. No real way to pattern that. As for the wolves, its seems that mature whitetail mostly elude the wolves, its the young ones that get it for the most part. The wolves role through and the whitetail go to spot B or just use there home range a bit different for a few days, or a week, then its back to business as usual.
