Congratulations nicely done!
Re: My First Big Game (Black Bear)
just awesome! Congrats to you and thank for sharing your story with everyone
Re: My First Big Game (Black Bear)
First time and you're already a field dressing pro! Wish you were around when we did our first in the dark lol
Congrats on the bear and many more to come.
Don't worry about shooting bears in the shoulder to prevent them from going far. Double lung is always the safest shot. Shoulder can be iffy. They will never go far with a double lung, plus you get more meat :)
Re: My First Big Game (Black Bear)
Well done and as mentioned above well done on the processing congrats!

I did with Bradly Smoker. 170F for 3 hours, 200 F for 1 hour, smoking time is 3 hours.

Yes, I consider myself very lucky to have my wife go out hunting with me. Not many girls interested in hunting, especially Chinese, lol.

Yeah, dressing in the dark is some hard work. I tried to pull it out to the road, so I can dress in front of my vehicles head light, but I didn't have the strength, so I have to do it on the spot, lol.

Aiming shoulder bones of a bear could be tricky; good to know you did the double lung which is (in my opinion) the best way to drop a bear. Congrats.

Nice to see somebody doing their own cutting.
I can't believe the number of posts I see asking "Does anyone know if there is a butcher in ....?"
It's not that friggin' hard even if most of us don't have your experience as an inspector in meat plants.
