Older blocks are good to, but regeneration height often limits shooting lanes and distances.Do a walk through along block 10-20 m from edge to confirm use then setup where your scent won't betray you. Last half hour of shooting light is when you can expect action. Personally, I really enjoy the last part of the season and spending time in a stand and rattling. Don't need a stand to rattle though and we can go through that too.
Thanks so much Elkchaser! I'll shoot you over a PM and hopefully we can connect later in the season.
Appreciate the notes on what to look for - definitely going to keep this top of mind when I'm out this weekend.

Thanks Everett! So far I've been booting around Lost Dog FSR, Houle Creek FSR, Ta Ta Creek FSR and a little bit up Hellroaring.
I've heard a lot of people say that about the weather too.
Re: Kimberley/Cranbrook Newbie
Hey everyone,
I just wanted to say thanks for the support and suggestions you guys have made here.
As someone totally new to hunting (and a recent transplant to the Kootenays), I didn't know what to expect when putting a request like this out there.
It's great to know that there's a supportive community and friendly folks like yourselves willing to help me out.
Thanks!

Re: Kimberley/Cranbrook Newbie
Don't get discouraged about not finding bucks this time of year. IMO the best time is the first weekend and the last week and a half of the season. Try to hunt the last two weeks of Nov as much as you can.
I think the deer are smartening up after a few years of antlerless GOS. The last two years I have seen a bunch of deer still hunting in the timber and less hanging out in the open waiting to be shot. Move slower than you think is humanly possibly, stop every few steps and scan with your binos.
If you are still having trouble in Nov shoot me a pm and I will do what I can to help.
cheers,
Ryan
