Thought I'd share (cheap goose decoys)
Some old pictures I found...
Here are a few deeks I made out of sonotubes and plywood a few years back. We made between 100 and 150. They started out as snows then I converted a bunch to Canadas. Very simple to make, they take very little space AND they work like nothing else I've seen...
Enjoy

Re: Thought I'd share (cheap goose decoys)
Since some of you have shown interest in making some of these decoys; I will post a brief "how to" here instead of replying to your PMs. Here goes.
You will need:
Sheets of thin plywood (aspenite will probably do but I prefer plywood)
Sonotubes (the bigger the better, but consider weight)
paint, I used cheap tremclad, works like a charm just make sure it's flat.
black, white, light brown, grey. If your hardcore about it, a can of gloss black for the eyes.
Tools:
I used a jig saw with a fine blade for the tubes and a "wood" blade for the heads.
Bodies: start by cutting the tubes in sections of 30" or so. then cut the sections length wise. This will give you your rough bodies. Then use the pictures above for reference. Cut the neck slot accordingly, about as thick as your plywood.
Note: The paint will give the tubes a certain water resistance but you might want to explore options for waterproofing such as a pre-coating. (Thompson waterseal?)
Heads: cram as many templates on your 4X8 sheet and cut away. Make a nice V end to drive into the ground. I made three styles; sentinels, resting and feeding. Don't forget; not too many sentinels! Paint them all black and use a stencil to paint the white. Use a brush to dot the eyes.
That's it I think.
Good luck!
Alex

Good work! They look just as good (well OK, yours may look better) than my trusty old plywood silhouettes. I made them all with head sections that were screwed on and positionable. The standing geese have 1 removable wire leg, the laydowns are just flat. Nothing special, but they have worked for 10-15 years! I leave them out on an island in The Pitt Meadows Marsh with a small sign asking all to use them but leave them for others. So far so good! I'll sit over them for the 1st time this season tomorrow morning. I may build a few of your design as well. If I bring any home tomorrow for touch-ups I'll attach a photo. Good hunting!
