Just received an email with some weird uses for WD-40...this one caught my eye...

39) WD-40 attracts fish. Spray a LITTLE on your lure and you will be catching the bigone in no time.

Anyone ever tried this?...

No, I never tried it...I am not much of a lake fisherman...I do mostly saltwater, but havent been out much since my dad got rid of the boat:mad:

Next time I am out, I will have to give that a try

Always have a tiny aresol can on board my belly boat. Have used it on sinking flies for the last half dozen years and it has been productive. I was told the reason it worked as an attractor was part of the mixture in W-D was fish oil.

Just a little info.

This is thought of the Old School. It can help, but when this was a typical practice, WD40 was fish oil based.

Now it is Varsol based (read: not so good for the water/enviroment...). They changed it over a loooong time ago.

Trust me!!!
Try soaking your baits in cod liver oil instead.

I keep a mini can in my vest. I try it now and then but can't say its a sure thing. I won't take it out of my vest though just in case it helps me get the big one one day. Besides, you never know when you might need to fix a squeak while fishing.:)

Wonder if it has more to do with covering human scent? Remember, Charlie Whites bilge water.

Crest toothpaste (the regular old mint paste stuff) on a Lyman or Apex for big 'bows in the big lakes...try it, it works!

Many many alternatives to varsol/WD 40.

There is also something about washing your hands in a Simple Green solution that works WONDERS!

Go figure...

Wash your hands with tooth paste before rigging up your gear to get rid of your scent, or get your wife to rig up for you. If you put your hands in a tank with fish they'll swim to the far end of the tank but when the ladies do it, they aren't repelled by their scent. If your wife out fishes you, it might not just be you, but my wife says otherwise.

Some one once told that WD-40 was good for coughs, colds, sore a**holes, pimples on your d*nk, makes child birth a pleasure.
