yup willer thought it was a good spot to learn how to gut a moose to  , like I said to a couple guys though it was a meat hunt only so a 32" bull will be some fine tender eating this winter ,

there is 2 bullets through him, the first was a running shot through the shouder and out the neck (hence the blood loss on road from artery being cut) , then he stood up and tried to get into the swamp were the cow was so I belted him again through the shoulder and boiler room ... lost a bit of meat but not to bad from bloodshot , still better than dragging him out of 5 feet of swamp mud and water .

the real kick was we had 3 bulls all calling and 2 fighting withing 100 yards of us and a cow bellering away in the swamp, was a awsome display for my son and willer to witness for thenselves...Ill let willer tell about moose porn while you gut though

Good hunt guys. There is nothing better than a moose on the road. Besides with Willers bum leg you would have had a tough time getting him out of the swamp.. When you get a chance Willer, give Chris and I a call. We have lined up a sweet deal for a mulie hunt down in Clinton starting on the 15th.

yup you and the other 30 guys that have PMed me  .

I woke up thismorning with a glow over myself, sun is shinning again , moose hunt is over for me, meat is at the butchershop and my son is sleeping on the couch holding his picture of him and the moose , even though anphib had to go home do to his knee a day early we still had a dam good time , and it makes me even happier to be able to share it with a group of folks from around BC like the crew here at HBC

thanks gang for all the good stories and times :D

here is another pic we took while we were sighting in the 458 with the scope anphib was kind nuff to lend me....heres one 13 year old I would be afraid of if I was a moose in the years to come as his bloodlines have predator written all over them in stone :D , anphib showed him how to "walk the tim hortons cup" .....

thanks willer now all he talks about is wanting a mossy 12 guage :x

How much did that moose weigh on the hooks Bonez?

bone-collector
10-06-2004, 01:21 PM
after a small meat loss to my 2nd shot he hit 468 at the butcher shop

back to Doug , the worlds greatest comment came from the hunter that was with my buddy , he is amarican from california and the first thing said after all hell broke lose was :

WHAT IN THE F#$K DID YOU SHOOT THAT MOOSE WITH :?:

that popgun bodyslammed that moose like a kenworth hitting a volkswagon bug doing 110

Doug
10-06-2004, 01:31 PM
Yep!

Go big, or go home! 8)

How's your shoulder? Re-make those bruises?

Doug

bone-collector
10-06-2004, 01:37 PM
shoulder is fine , its like shooting my 30-30 , honestly this rifle dosnt bother me 1 bit , my 375 booted 100x more than this bad boy :D

Doug
10-06-2004, 03:28 PM
Hmmm, that .375 was a pussycat for me, but the .458 beat the snot out of me. Must be stock design, and the way we hold the rifles. Are you a southpaw?

Doug

bone-collector
10-06-2004, 05:29 PM
yes I am a southpaw the only paw to be

and it very well could be how we hold them in relation to weight and leaning into it , I am in love with this 458 , and have always been a ruger fan so its just right and its me in the sence of go big or go home attitude

Doug
10-06-2004, 05:40 PM
another mystery solved. The .375 had that big roll-over cheekpiece, which fit me like a glove, so recoil was considerably dampened. But for a leftie, it would AMPLIFY the recoil and kick you in the face........

Doug

bone-collector
10-06-2004, 05:49 PM
yes I guess that would have been a factor ..oh well all is good in the house exept i need more darn wall space upstairs, either that or start tacking antlers to the roof

have a spot saved for my boar mount and turkey plaque from ontario next spring , those have priority around here on the walls

Good hunt - nice having a moose on the road for ease of packing ....

Although each to his or her own .... I think that big rifle is a little bit overkill :? I couldn't do it with a big gun like that lol ....

No offence .... I think as long as you shoot a gun well .... then it works !!!

bone-collector
10-08-2004, 02:14 PM
well if you hunt in a highly populated grizz area were you have a 1 in 3 chance of seeing 1 close daily , you pack a big gun

and I am pretty sure i have shot nuff big game to be familiar with my firearms and how to kill something without making it suffer

HUNTING MUSIC? 8O

Now if you are talking about DRIVING MUSIC, yes I can buy Rolling Stones, but nothing beats Uriah Heep.

hey now dont be giving me bad thoughts on them before I get out to Ontario in the spring and taste a few :D , right after I catch and release a walleye a pike a bass and a catfish and shoot a turkey and a hog and bug everyone to death with stupid questions

Holy Crap! Don't you dare catch and release any walleyes (unless it is law of course)! Get yourself a box of "Shore Lunch" coating and cook em on the beach in a fry pan and oil.....yummmmmmmmy! When I used to live in Manitoba I worked Northway Aviation at the Fishing Lodge (Sassiginnigak Lake Lodge), and I ate walleye pretty much everyday with our mostly American clients. They liked them with fried potatoes and cold Libby's Beans....pretty good actually.

I was just looking over the 4 pages in this thread and I realized I did not say how much I truly appreciated all the pictures. They are just awesome!! 8) I always save them to my computer for leisurely rebrowsing later. I actually paste my own head on the your bodies if I have a dry hunting season, that way I can still email my family members and they are none the wiser. They were suspicious however when they saw me with my head on Bone-collector with his moose and then my head on Snipergirly with her rabbits and grouse.

back to Thunderstix.........if you like walleye (and who doesn't!!!), you will LOVE crappies. Imagine a white-fleshed fish that is finer grained and sweeter than walleye, just DELICIOUS!

And you are correct, if Rob catches a walleye in my boat it is not going back into the water unless it is a very large fish.....
