So this will be my first year duck hunting, I have a a couple prairie potholes in mind, this one in particular is the largest and about 1km by .5km. I was thinking of getting a sneak boat for my first year, and then I came across these pictures of a blind that was built on the ice (looks a lot easier than trying to do it in the summer). It looks a lot more comfortable and I would be able to bring along my girlfriend and some friends to introduce them to it aswell.
Theres only one access point (where the truck is located) the rest is private land, so it would be boat access from there. There aren't many guys who hunt the water here, as they hunt farmland, so pressure is low.
Trouble is I've never hunted at this slough or for ducks at all, so I'm not really sure where I should build one?
For the experienced guys looking at this picture, where would you put it?
I've been to the slough several times in the fall to watch the ducks they were located pretty much everywhere on the slough in pockets. Unfortunately I never stuck around to see them take off or land...The wind up here mostly blows in from the southwest. That house is about 300 yards from the water.
Has anyone here built a blind before actually hunting the spot, I know theres some risk it may not work out, but I thought I would see what you guys think. Should I just hunt solo in a sneak boat this year?

This is the kind of blind I came across, looked like it would do the job nicely for a couple guys.
