I selected deer because it takes more effort that bears I think Elk is my holy grail but I need an LEH for them here. One day it will work out for me. :D

Elk and bear are close but I think Elk edges out the blackies. Now if bears could bugle, it would probably go the other way

Hands down I like moose the best followed by mule deer. Getting all set for opening day of archery season on Sept 1st. Willyqbc and I are heading out for a 6 day archery hunt in 7-08. Everything is open there, including 6 point elk. It will be nice to be out bowhunting and not getting frustrated buy rifle shots. Every time I hear a shot I think someone got something.

Moose first, followed by Grouse ( grouse breast with a Chardonney sauce and Morrel and Shaggy Mane mushrooms over wild rice )

Well to tell you the truth I shot my first Blacktail deer last fall and my first black bear this spring. The only other big animal I've hunted successfully is whitetail deer back east. I haven't had the opportunity to try out all the other animals to pick a favorite yet. I've seen a couple dozen elk since I moved to the Island and there is something majestic about them. If I ever get an LEH for elk I think this might be the magical animal you speak off.

Like all you other folks as long as I'm hunting I'm happy, but to hunt Black bears is very thriilling at times. There's nothing like tracking a bear thats doing an endrun on you!!

Ditto for me on that! Never had a moose tag around here (and too cheap/lazy to drive up north for one), and elk are the most frustrating thing on planet earth to hunt. Bears - ummm, not so nice to eat, and not enough of them close to home to make for easy pickins...

Deer on the other hand - oh, now that's some good fun right there! Stalking through the high country glassing mulies lookin for the right one, or sitting down in a valley waiting on Mr Big whitetail to show up at his water hole; either one gets me going. :)

Two years ago it would have been moose. But since I heard that first bugle from an elk, and being in on a wicked successful elk hunt last year it is now elk!! Two years ago marked my very first mulie buck kill as well, so mulies are on the list above moose too. Don't get me wrong, I still love chasing and calling in ole rubber noses, but elk is a new drug for me!! Elkinaroun.............. I mean moosinaround!lol

Bah, I like challenges that pay off!!! Deer hunting pays off nicely every year in time/effort vs lbs of meat in my freezer. Elk hunting, not so much (at least not for me).

I enjoy deer hunting cause I can get out within 20mins from the house and I find it relaxing. It is not too hard to find legal deer and I just enjoy stalking them, oohh yeah and eating them too :) :)

This should be broken down further, cause hunting Blacktails on the Island or west coast is unlike hunting any other deer. Moose certainly are my favorite eating animal, but I get to hunt Blacktails way more.

If I went on the assumption I was only allowed one, without any hesitation it would be Moose. That was the first big game animal I ever hunted. As a kid in the interior, that was the main part of our meat diet for many years. Sirloin tip roast, garlic mashed potatoes and lots of dark Moose gravy, life doesn't get much better.
Second choice, Deer.

Without a doubt it's mulies.

I love that time of the year when they are rutting and you can pass up on dozens of bucks hoping to cancel your tag on a whopper or that first week of Sept in the alpine when you are glassing a big batchalor herd and trying to figure out how you are going to pluck the big boy out of the group.

Elk is close but I have had limited opportunities to seriously hunt them. Tomorrow I will start my most serious elk hunt to date so my poll answer may be different in two weeks.

After a bit of debate, I picked Deer.

It's nearly a tie with bear hunting though. Both species have different 'likable' aspects but muley's hedge the decision. What I like about them is that ya never know where one will lead you to (unpredictable).

But the blackies get me cranked.....

I like hunting them, its just when it comes to the 'combo' of hunting and eating, young Moose is still my favorite.
