Was wondering if any of you guys designed, fabricated anything over the years to make your life easier in the woods and to cut down on the things you take when hunting on extended trips far from home? Always on the look out for interesting projects to do and the wife says that if I'm busy then her life is a lot easier cause I'm not tormenting her. Go figure! But whatever it takes to get a guy into the shop, right?
But anyway to get the ball rolling I have been working on a hunting trailer for a while now. It is designed to carry my quad and a small fishing /duck boat. It has a built in loading ramp,(doubles as a table). Ladder storage rack on one side and fender and wheel well boxes for misc. items. Just finished my latest mod. It involves installing an 8' removable shelf down the left side of the trailer that is supported on the water and gas can racks( guy can never have enough gas and water) and serves as a cooking and food prep area. Overhead I installed an arm off of the boat rack that supports a coleman lantern for those late night snacks. It makes a setting up in a remote area a cinch after a long drive. I've done other things to make life more comfortable in the great outdoors like building wall tent stoves, internal frames, portable showers and so on... Just looking for some more interesting projects to keep me out of trouble. Oh, by the way, probably the best install on the trailer was a wall mounted bottle opener on the box, for those of us who enjoy a cold bottle of beer and are to tired to twist the neck off of anything after a hard day of hunting.

 ...yeah, nice trailer ol' man. I think you need some pics of it put up. That is one sweet rig you built. I'd too, be interested to see what the lads have come up with. I think we are a very practical and ingenious bunch when it comes to thinking things up. Should be interesting..!

Speaking of things that are interesting you should post pics of that camo job you did on the Rem. 870. Now that's sweet! It definitely can breath new life into a shotgun that has been used well. Looking foward to duck and goose season. It won't be long now! Can hardly wait had a blast last year. Have to watch those 90 deg. canoe rolls though, that scared the bejesus outta me. Now there was an adventure, but we got him!

I take it Statler is from the Island too. Maybe if I'm lucky I could get out with you two and do a little duck and goose hunting myself. I've got a 14 1/2 foot deep V boat with a 15 hp and a good labrador retriever to boot. All I need is some time off from sailing.

Marc.

Hey, Marc...you take it correct! He's an awesome fellow. We'd gladly get together for some bird hunting....and some bears too..! Be safe out there on the Boat when you go.

"Making A Rangefinderhttp://camper-jim.tripod.com/imagelib/sitebuilder/layout/spacer.gifIf you have any center focus binoculars they can be turned into a basic rangefinder. Focus on a object at a measured yardage and make a mark on the focus wheel, so you will know where that yardage is. You can make different and more than one yardage I just used 100 yds as an example"

Hey has anyone tried this, it sounds like it might be quite accurate. Even if you just had one or two distances set say 100yds and 200 yds, it could be helpful for those of us who have seen a nice buck, taken a shot and then later measure the distance with the GPS only to find out that the deer was actually 365 yards away (no names mentioned).
