My partner and I hit our favorite Mallard spot this morning, and wore out my Lab,14 drakes and 2 hens. One of the last drakes I shot had a band(I haven't shot a banded bird since I lived in Ladner 6 years ago!).When I hung the birds up at home I noticed it had a green band on the other leg,and after getting my reading glasses I saw that it read:$100 Reward!Sweeeeet! The nice lady at USF&W said I'll be receiving my cheque in about 3 weeks. What a bonus:lol:

If you accepted the money you lose your amateur status. Then you can't shoot with the rest of us anymore.   $100, that'll pay for a few boxes of shells.

That's awesome! I've never heard of a reward band in B.C.. Be sure to tell us where the bird was banded when you get the information.

 Hi Dano! All of the banded birds I've shot on the Lower Mainland(5),were banded in Alberta. They were all Mallards, and were shot either off Westham Island ,or field shooting in Delta.I've also shot 2 banded Brant,so that's 8 banded birds,in 40 years of waterfowl hunting!I'll let you know where the reward band originated!Cheers,Gunner(by the way I haven't heard another shot fired since the season started,so no 4th of July in the North Okanogan!)

I've shot 3 banded geese (all locally banded and one had the yellow neck collar), one banded Gadwal with blue plastic bill band (banded locally as well on a project my father's buddy had), and 2 mallards (one from Alberta and one from the Yukon.
I look at every bird now but it's so rare we even hear about a banded bird let alone get one.
Keep up the posts and include a few pictures if possible!
