This is a pic kof the bull that I arrow with the help of my brother. We Spotted him from across the valley and circled around him. After chasing him and his cows for nearly 2 hours we manged to cut them off and set up on a fence line that they were going to cross. The shot was 30 yards and the arrow caught the back of a rib which made it angle bck a bit. It hit 1 lung and knick the liver before it went into the guts. We snuck out of the area for 3 hours and when we came back we found him bedded with in 100 yards. After a couple of follow up arrows we had him. Thanks to a fellow bowhunter that was in the area we used his quad and drug him staight to my truck. Just waiting for my brother to e-mail me the other pics and then I will post them as well.

Awesome bull! That is my dream hunt - archery elk........maybe one day.

Smart move to leave him and let him settle down. Really hard to do to, usually in the excitement it is a natural reaction to Go Get Him!

Thanks guys. I will be doing a europian mount with him for now because I have limited hanging space but eventually I might do a shoulder mount. Bowhunting for elk is my favorite pastime I enjoy it so much that I have talke a couple of my friends into getting bows so that I can do it even after my tag is filled.

Goof hunting

Actually he looks better than he scores. When we first saw him heading our way my brother and I both figured that he would score over 300 as well but his brow tines are not very long and his 3rds are really short. He ends up gross 296 6/8. He is super heavy though, on his left side where the sword point comes off he is palmated over 4 inches.

so are you going to submit him to the pope and young club?

I beleive you need a 260 net score to make the book.

No I don't think that I will bother. He is a great elk and I really enjoyed hunting him down but I think I will just share the pics with friends and enjoy looking at him on my wall.

I agree. That is a fantastic bull on the prettist I've seen. Congrats and eat well.

Great shot man. The bull elk is the pinnacle is it not?

Sounds like a great hunt. Tell me, did you have a pass through with your shot?

Congrats

I shot him in region 7B. My first shot didn't pass through because it angled back into the guts after hitting one lung and the liver. When he bolted after the shot he broke the fletching off of the arrow but the rest of the arrow stayed inside. While we were gutting him we noticed that his stomach was right full of grass. That is what the arrow hit I believe and that is why it didn't go completly through. My follow up shot @ 20yrds broadside blew right through him though and sailed a good 15 yards pst him.

Incredible bull. I would be pleased to take him with a rifle never mind a bow
