had a great season so far, got my first elk with bow on the fifth ,buddy got his opening day. we called mine in to 4 yds and his was 8 yds,not sure why we had 30 yd pins this year .both 5x5 with sticker ,probably would have been legal for 6pt season.

You have broken rule number 1. Never post about dead animals without pics of said animals! Post pics!

Looks like the elk has the largest grin in that first pic guys! Congratulations.......he's a beaut.

What we need now is the details - you know the blow-by-blow on the ol' elk bugle, as it were. What are the specs on the bow? What arrow and head were you using. All the details.

here goes,we were walking in to our hunting spot when two bulls started sounding off below us on their own,we set up and cow called and bugled, instant response.except one decided to circle and decided to trot past the other caller when i gave a blast on the terminator.100gr wasp out of his mathews and after short blood trail he was in he bag.thanx to our pack horse partner we had it out in one trip.while first bull ran away after being shot the other bull was still bugling but only gave us glimpses before he winded us. bull2 was taken after shooter one was delegated spotter after shooting his opening day ,he spotted my bull chasing 4 cows on the ridge top and in to a north basin,we sneaked in real quiet that evening and waited for the wind to change, before calling.one call from the terminator and he was on his way in,a little tree raking and more calling was all he could take.i was set up downwind and 40 yds in front of my partner,he came in perfect grunting all the way.i came to full draw at about 40yds and waitd as i didnt want frontal shot.i followed him through my peep until i had a slight quarter towards,tekan2 out of mathews ,meat in the freezer.its been a long dry spell, so we were all pretty happy.good luck to all,now i concentrate on a first deer for my son.

Thanx for the story. It's rule #2 - successful hunt = pics and detailed story.

It's the only way I can hunt this season. It's gonna be a long time to next season.
