If you're happy, I'm happy! What ever you do with ducks turns to gold.

However, what did you do? Paint them or build them?

If I ever know 1/10th of what you know about ducks, I'll change my name to Donald.

I remember some of your diver-hunt pic's of last year.... Outta sight, outta mind, no other pressure; just peace and tranquillity.

I can understand your motivation, now lets see the new strings!

they kinda look cool but definitely not worth the price for a scoter... i honestly think that an all black milk carton with a strip of yellow would work just as good

same as a grey milk jug with a shot of green would work for a mallard. please enlighten us ole wise one with some sea duck lore from years past.........all decoys are created for the hunter.......great grandpa killed geese with tar paper cutouts and it can still be done today....decoy spreads have turned into the same kind of dink measuring contest you see at the boat ramps when the springs are biting.

How do diver ducks taste? The first and last bufflehead I shot as a kid wasn't so great.

I would imagine they would be pretty good with some seafood sauce. K

fix in a batch of pepperonis or breakfast sausage!!

As far as the ghg dekes. i like em! I painted up 3 dozen scoters few weeks ago and they dont look perfect but i think they are good enough! I 'll take some pics tomorrow.

Good luck with your milk jugs and paper cut outs Kyle! Make sure to post up some pics of your next hunt over them!

sweet kyle! that last pic looks like its from the 80's. THe truth is given the right place and time(or pretty much anytime in the prairies) you can kill birds over anything. (we used 2 pink flamingo's in our spread in alberta last year and when we do this year i will take pics) But given the choice id prefer to have good looking nice dekes.

So heres a few shots of some repaints i did over the last month. Got a deal on new ghg mallards for $30 a dozen for oversized and $15.99 a dozen for some hot buys in the beginning of the year so picked up 4 dozen hot buys and 2 dozen over sized with the intent of repainted most of them to divers and sea ducks. Well i ended up painting 6 buffies, 6 golden eyes, 14 surf scoters and 12 white wing scoters. Still have about a dozen to do and keep the rest as mallards.

Flashed them first with a torch and acetone, then washed them with dish soap and water. Ruffed them up with sand paper then Primed them with plastic patio furnature spray paint. Afte that put a coat of flat black bbq paint over the whole decoy. The white is exterior latex flat white, and the yellow and oranges are acrylics for model cars.

THe scoters are rigged on 120# tarred 36 inch drops for long lines, the buffies and golden eyes are on single 15 foot rigs. Picked up 300 pounds of lead for 30c a pound in june and hae been making my own decoy weights as well. So for the 3 dozen divers i did up and rigged I am in about $80 and 5 hours or so spread over a month. lol. THey arent perfect but im pretty happy with them. Going to do 6 harlis over then next few weeks but thats about it

You can see on the right there are a bunch that havent been finished and how shiny that plastic paint is.
