Any one heading to Port. for their derby this weekend. I got talked into going up for it. Heading up Wed. afternoon for a few days ,before the "Gong Show" begins, and staying until Tues. for a last catch.

K1,
If you have a huntbc hat wear it around the beer gardens (you are going into the beer gardens aren't you). I'll do the same, and we'll have a brew and a chat.

Three days in a beer garden's,, wouldn't be able to see straight!!!! I'll be looking for you. I will be in a 17ft Cope , not many of them around, so shouldn't be hard to spot on the water.

Bought my ticket today and am busy getting the gear ready. I was out on Sunday and we got 2 approx 12 & 15 lbs. We also had a double header but someone cut behind us so I lost my fish and gear (after getting spooled to the knot). My partner lost his while trying to net it himself. I can't wait for the gong show to begin!!!!!

Just got back from China creek with a 22lb, a 20lb, a 15lb and a 14lb. Not going to win any derby with those, but they'll taste just fine...

I'll leave the derby for the crowds.

K1,
I won't be fishing cause I have to work fri and sat nightshift. I really didn't mean live in the beer gardens, I just meant if you were there we might see you. I'm usually good for two beer then I'm outta there. I might be there sunday afternoon. I'm down to buy my tickets on the boat etc.

Two of us fished fairly hard for a total of about 10 days until Sept. 5th.. Poett Nook to Bamfield... it was very spotty fishing... one day no strikes, the next a couple of fish... sometimes weak strikes and they were gone after you picked the rod up... lost quite a few... we only boated about 6 fish... I think it is a late run... worst fishing in many years..

I caught this fish (white spring male) at 9am on Sept 4th.... I did not have a Derby Ticket.... 48 pounds on the Poett Nook scale ... A $10,000 fish if I had a Derby Ticket.

What kind of deal did you make for that one? Isn't there a story about a priest out playing golf and a hole in one?

Gorgeous fish!
