Not sure whats going on....

Log in but when I view a thread its like 500 chararacters long from one side of the screen to the other..WTF??? How do I fix that???

As well, when I click on new posts, it gives me details (replies, views etc) but they are printed vertical, not horizontal, so I only get a few threads per screen and it takes forever to get to teh bottom of the page....

The size etc looks normal when I hit home, but after that it all goes to hell in a handbasket...

I was able to re-produce it in Internet Explorer. Please make sure "compatibility mode" is disabled. If you have Internet Explorer 6, you will have to update your browser or use another browser such as firefox or chrome.

spink

Under the Tools menu. If you need to know what version of Internet Explorer you have, check the "Help" Menu and then "About Internet Explorer". If you have IE6, you will have to update or use another browser.

Oddball thing - I've got to click on Compatibility View when I'm on the home page just to make it fit. When i'm in the new posts page I have to turn the Compatibility view off to make the page fit.

I'm using Windows XP and Internet Explorer8

I have to do the same...toggle the compatibility View. However, everytime I do, it logs me off of the site and I have to log back in again.

Hah. I use Firefox which is nice, not fast, but nice. The new version (4?) which is in beta now looks really nice. Wife uses chrome, but I find I have random issues with it showing text and radio buttons. Internet Explorer 9 looks really nice, but I'm gun shy due to past security issues (malware installing automatically).

Had the same wide screen problem. I set Google Chrome as the default and it works great now. But I'm old and used to IE, so I'm feeling a bit cranky.

Tricky! Either tell your IT department that you're worried about site security and get them to update it, ;) or look at firefox portable.

Bite the bullet and do the download. Firefox is not appreciably slower than IE8.

While I think srupp could have said it a little nicer, I have to agree with him. Not sure why anyone should have to download a new browser to view the site properly, it just doesn't make sense to me even if it is a favorite site. If the issue is just a bug and will be worked out, well that's pretty easy. But asking the membership to change their browser is a bit presumptuous. Seems like it should be fixed by the sites IT dept.

Bow Walker

Spink IS working on the issue of older browser compatibility as we speak. The whole site change/upgrade is a work in progress. During construction it can be a royal PIA to have to change compatibility views though. I got real tired of doing it and downloaded Firefox to use as a browser until the construction work is finished.

Downloading and installing Firefox was super easy and it was FREE. Downloading IE9, on the other hand costs $$. Technology is advancing almost faster than we can keep up with it. It stands to reason that older browsers are going to have problems with newer tech.

Why not download and solve the problem Steven? You are well respected on this forum - both by me and the rest of the members here, but you are coming across in a negative way, which is very unusual for you. Not sure why.
