Haha, great post. Dude, my back is KILLING me as well, it's been bad and I've put it out at least twice in the past 12 months. You know what fixed it for me in the page? Exercise.... having strong back muscles made all my pain go away. Now if I could find the time to get in shape, that would be fantastic.

lol @ the fisherman reference. Turns out I had to run an indexing service that had to index every post to get the searches and history back. It was a 1,000,000+ references to index. I guestimated by the speed it was going at that it would take like 10 - 15. Bad guess! On the plus side I was able to finish up some work on other sites on this server, cut my hair, hit the mall, eat dinner and put the kidlet to bed.

Haven't been on the site for a few days so the new changes are very pronounced. It seems very bright and a tad difficult to look at for any length of time. The thing that stands out the most is the brown line with the date in it. Maybe the colour scheme could be varied? Toned down somewhat? The list of topics/threads... The envelope stands out much easier than the actual topic. Maybe it's the size of the font or just that the envelope is so big.

3) for some reason the home page is really wide sometimes, and fits in the screen (I have a 1080p screen) other times.

Security and upgrades. The old site had not had any updates done in 4+ years. Technology has moved forth (server software packages) and our site was being left behind. Now was the time or we risked the site going down and loosing data.

I do think that this light blue or gray colour you are using would be easier on the eyes as a background.

Vista and Firefox, its all working smooth for me (haven't been on the main page yet though). Even now at 2 am Mar 26 I honestly still find the background colour to be a bit harsh, just thats pretty minor I guess if everyone else is happy with it. The brown I find to be a little depressing because it reminds me of our lawn colour right now!

I only have one question, but its just more of a curiosity: beneath the top box with the avatar and use info and above the signature box there is a faint blue/grey line - is there any chance it can be darkened a bit to add a bit of contrast? I find a lot of the font colours on a few pages (ie post reply) is still pretty faint and 'washed out' a bit too, if I might make a suggestion for that it would be more assertive and bold colours, so the site doesn't look like we're selling baking goods and linens :mrgreen: j/k!

All in all, having survived through countless other board upgrades with several other forums, I applaud you Spencer for doing this so smoothly. I agree that the board being down was driving me a little nutty too, but its just a part of being online! Cheers

You guys need to stop complaining for something free. I guess you don't understand all the problems you're mentioning can be changed or fixed. There's quirks to doing what they did that needs to be smoothed out. And you can be the solution to it. Instead of just saying it lousy, say what the problem and what could help change it.

I noticed when you hit "new posts" the text size of the topic is much smaller then the other text like the member and date text which makes it very hard to read and hit compared to normal.

It's helpful things like that, that will bring this site up to snuff for you guys.

When the users online box is expanded it widens the page off the screen. The back ground color is now easier on the eyes. The brown bar sticks out and is very annoying. Possibly a short bar on the date and post number would still allow the brown but be easier on the eyes.

You can also drag your cursor over the reading content to highlight it and that makes it easier to read. I used to do that even with the old site. I pretty much agree with everyone else, A little darker background color and slightly larger font would be cool. I run Firefox and haven`t noticed any size issues or anything however I haven`t really surfed much since all the upgrades began.

I noticed when you quote someone that the quote box has the same background color as the rest of the post. Would be a lot nicer to have the quoted text box come up as a different color to contrast the rest of the post.

Another suggestion would be to make the background color of just the post where our comments are and make it a little lighter to make the text stand out a bit more.

I haven't read through all 17 pages but like others; I like the colour scheme and dislike the white text on a light background and the tiny fonts all over the place. It's a lot better if I set Firefox to a minimum font size. On my laptop that would be 14 to get a readable thread list.

The green/grey background scheme looks very good IMO. Muted colours that are easy on the eyes and still have good contrast between posts, quotes etc.

Mine was not showing like the attachment you have there. Actually the name, in this case Mountainman was below the time and date of the post. That is how it shows for me all the time. The check box is not showing in my browser. What is the check box for? I tried to get a screen shot of what I have but am unable to download one onto the site. Sorry. :( If it happens again maybe I can email you a screen shot. Just trying to help out, not complaining at all. Loving it.

Screen width works fine for me. I use Firefox for a browser.
Anyone with FONT size issues, hit Control + (CTRL and the + sign) to make it bigger, and CTRL - to make it smaller. easy fix.
Spink, nice work, and you're handling all the input , both positive and negative, very well. Also like the colours. I know what to paint my house now :mrgreen:
(The quote box BG could be slightly lighter for my taste)
Just noticed one thing when I went Advanced on my reply: The Font size box (Small black A, large blue A), doesn't seem to work. Also, the arrow UP says "decrease size'' and the arrow DOWN says ''increase size''. Yes, I highlighted a block of text to test it.
However, the Font and Sizes boxes work fine. That other Aa box is a little redundant anyway.
