Adam,

Yes it is enough to drop a moose at 200 - 300 yards as long as he hits the vitals.

Happy Hunting!

I have very little experience with a 270 but I watched my brother shoot a young bull with his 270. The moose trotted about 20 yards and fell over. Looked good enough to me:smile:

No question it will do the job.

Ive done it works like a charm as long as you shootem in the right spot. Get some good 150 grains and you will be good to go.

A clean shot in the vitals with a .270 will kill any moose on the planet. It may have a little less margin for error than a bigger gun, but I'd call it still very adequate with any of the heavier loads.

IMO.......No. Don't shoot moose with a .270 My experience with people from down south is that they can't hit the broad side of a barn. No offense.........I hope you're not one of those people. That said, I know guys who shoot a moose with the .270 every year and swear by them. You got to hit them right.

.270 is my favorite! Many moose, bears, etc... . I've had a .300 weatherby for years now but truly miss the .270 (especially $ ammo). Grew up in the NE used the .270 since I was 11, don't even think twice about using it.

I have hunted for more than 20 years with a 270 and it will drop any moose on this planet. I dont think where a person lives cllassifies them as a poor shooter. What a dumb statement

I've taken both my moose with my .270, never had a problem with it. The previous owner of my gun also used it on moose, and had no trouble. I'd say go for it.

270 is plenty- assuming the shooter is well practiced under real field conditions; does his part; and uses a bullet of reasonable construction; lack of shooting skills is a problem everywhere.
