anyone know of any good spots around courtenay - royston area for salmon or bottom fish, also if there are any good spots for crab i was thinking of trying at the mouth of the trent but i have no idea if there are any around

There is a seasonal closure around the trent sometimes so check the regs. Are you in a boat? Try off point holmes ( you'll see the boats, also good for crabs off the tip of the comox spit by the cadets camp towards tree island) or kitty coleman 20 mins north off Courtenay. Lambert channel (launch from deep bay) between denman and hornby (south end) is very good for larger than normal (for local waters) springs.
