8-) June 3 & 4 8-)
Those are the dates of the 3D Championships at the Cowichan Bowmen Club.

Who is up for taking the top spot away from Bernie?? Rumour has it that he is ripe for the fall.

Rumour also has it that the food is going to be worth the trip all by itself! I can believe that - I know one of the chefs.:D

So oil up you release, limber up your digits, and smooth down that tab cause it's all up for grabs.

Oh yeah, lets see a whole passel of HBC hats there - wear them backwards so that the names can be read without having to tailgate just to see them.

Me, my brother and his son will be there flinging shafts and buying raffle tickets and eating up a storm. Hope to see a lot more "buddies" there.

Dan.

If your talking about the same Bernie i'm thinking, I shot with him on the last day of Provincials last year and I suspect it will take a pretty special performance from someone to knock him off the top of the heap. great shooter, make very few mistakes and a heck of a nice guy to shoot with:D

Mike - The Nanaimo shoot will be a good one as well. They put on quality events and there is sure to be a big turnout. Come early for a parking spot as there aren't too many to be had. I hope to see you there.

You're right Chris, Bernie is one heckova guy, one heckova shot, and one heckova challenge. My brother has shot with him on the last two shoots down here. He speaks quite highly of him.

Are you going to be able to make either of the next 2-day shoots?

Mike....if you are talking about the Nanaimo shoot it s at the Nanaimo Fish and Game Club. It is at the western end of Harewood Rd.

If you are coming from the Departure Bay Ferries, you should stay on the highway (#1) as it goes from the ferries and heads into town. Right off the ferries it is called STEWART AVE. Then it becomes TERMINAL AVE. Then as you go through the downtown area and out the other side it is called NICOL ST.

Just stay on the highway #1 and head South for Victoria. (I'll tell you where to get "off" :-o )

Continue South towards Victoria until the road becomes NICOL ST. As you head up the hill and along the straight away, look for a street on your right called 5th STREET. Turn right on 5th St. and be careful to stay on it, as it takes a small jog about two blocks off the highway. Just make sure you stay on 5th ST. and not get sidetracked onto Pine St.

Stay on 5th St. until you pass HOWARD AVE. Just past that there is an intersecting road that comes in at a sharp angle from your right - it is called HAREWOOD ROAD. Turn left onto HAREWOOD RD. Now you are heading more or less West. Stay on HAREWOOD RD. The Nanaimo Fish and Game Club is a gravel turn-off from HAREWOOD RD.

Seems confusing but it will get you there if you follow carefully.

Just in case - there is a map site and the link is Click for Map (http://www.colwoodppc.com/nanaimodir.htm) .

If you want to use a map finder the address for the club is 1250 Nanaimo Lakes Road ph: Range 250-754-2846

Hope this helps you. I apologize for any confusion (in advance) and I deny everything8-)

Further to my directions and the map link that I put in there.

The map link is for directions from the south of Nanaimo. As if you were coming from the Duke Point Ferry Terminal or Duncan or Victoria.

My directions are from the Central Nanaimo ferry terminal at Departure Bay. If you take this ferry you would leave from Horseshoe Bay on the Vancouver side.

The Duke Point ferry leaves from Tswassen terminal south of Vancouver.

Hope this doesn't muddy the waters too much. And remember my disclaimer...........
"I ain't dun nuttin"

Sealevel, I think I saw on a previous thread that you are coming down from up Island. If so you drive through Duncan and across the big silver bridge on the south side and take a right at the second set of lights after the bridge (Allenby Rd.)and then take the second left (Koksilah Rd.)and then it's a right on Doupe Rd. The Address is 3044 Doupe Rd. There should be signs up as well.
Hope this helps.....Ron:smile:

Bow Walker

It cost nothing to come and watch as far as I know. All you need to do is to hook up with a group. You could join myself, Ron, his son, and whomever else if you like............we are always in the need of a "go-fer";)

That is someone to fetch the arrows. Ron could use the help searching for his flyers.

There will be signs up telling you where to go [to the shoot]. For a map, here is our url agin www.cowichanbowmen.com (http://www.cowichanbowmen.com)
It cost nothing to come watch, except for lunch and maybe if you stay for supper http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_33_18.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNxmk873DNCA)http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/1/1_4_39v.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNxmk873DNCA)
I've seen Ron's robinhoods so maybe Dan needs help to look for his arrows.
You can hook up with me and a few of us Cowichan ACE shooters.
I was at the club tonight [if this old guy can make the course !!!!] checking things out with 3-D director, going to be a great shoot.

Congrats to Mystx's daughter, she must have just got her learners as I seen her driving her boyfriend's jeep out of the club tonight.
Congrat's to Myst's son for getting a jop at Duncan Iron Works.

Coming from Victoria
:arrow:before actually reaching Duncan you will come to a stop light that is the intersection of Koksilah Rd & the TCH (the Cowichan Bay Volunteer Fire Dept is on the right side just before the light)--you want to turn LEFT off the highway.
-follow Koksilah {coke-sigh-la} past Fox Run Stables, past Cowichan Station Rural Traditional School, under the underpass, past St. Andrew's Anglican Church, over the bridge, up the hill, past the turn off to Bright Angel Park, past Fairbridge, down the hill, through the corn flats, up the hill, then at the top of the hill (across from Evans Redi-Mix) you turn LEFT on Doupe Rd.......

Coming from Nanaimo
:arrow:come through the traffic lights in Duncan, staying on the TCH. You are looking for the second set of lights after crossing the bridge (this is past the turn offs to the city centre), this will be Allenby Rd & you will turn RIGHT, go less than a km on Allenby & you will turn LEFT on Koksilah Rd. Follow Koksilah's twists & turns (you will pass Hykaway & Millar Roads) & you will come to Doupe Rd (across from Evans Redi-Mix). You will turn RIGHT on Doupe Rd.......

:idea:there is a sign on the pole by the mailboxes at the end of Doupe Rd, & there is a sign at the driveway of the archery club. Stay on Doupe for about 1 to 2 kms, & the archery club is on the LEFT –look for a wooden sign on a wooden arch! 3044 Doupe Road ~ Cowichan Bowmen Archery Club.

PEOPLE COMING FROM VICTORIA;

Do not take the turn off at Kokasilah as the underpass is not high enough for campers,trailers,5th wheels and its easier to get lost as there is NO shoot signs in that direction.
head north past Cowichan Golf couse, down the hill to the set of lights [Allenby Rd and 3-D shoot signs] turn left, then take 2nd left again about 300 hundred yards[ 3-D shoot sign, Koksilah Rd ] then follow to Doupe Rd on right, about 2 km, on to Cowichan Bowmen Club on left 2 km.

Hey Bowalker,

Good to see you acting as promotions director for this shoot.

We'll be there this weekend. Zach's been busy playing baseball this spring but we're blowing off off baseball tournament this weekend to shoot arrows instead.

We haven't been shooting much the last month or so, so keep your head down.

I think the club ordered some new targets that should have arrived in time for this event. I hope Doug had enough help setting up. We're members so I feel bad for not helping. I guess we'll just have to buy lots of raffle tickets (as usual).

See you there.

Ken

Looking forward to the event myself, Ken. I haven't had much of an opportunity to get out and practise as well. I guess it is time to let the "little" brother beat me for a change.

I plan on being there for an early start - then I can get to be one of the first in line for the grub at lunch time.

It'll be nice to see the two little archers again.

Good luck to all

I guess you didn't read all of Eagle1's post as he mainly said the overpass was to low for big rigs, as I've seen it and could be a nightmare for some people to turn around and there is a lot more litle side roads and no shoot signs.

---well lets see, if you follow the quoted directions it tells you the main landmarks to pass---so no need to worry about the side roads ---also anyone driving an overheight rig should know to follow the signs and use the bypass route that is just before the underpass....... need I say more boys, or do you all have problems following directions?? ;) ?? sheesh lol tee hee  Besides, it doesn't matter how people got there, I was just giving an option -- and people could choose to use it or not--no big deal.
