Hi all,

When I use the search function for GPS, the following message is displayed:

Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.
The following words are either very common, too long, or too short and were not included in your search : gps
I'm not sure why GPS cannot be used in a search, but this may be a flaw?

Thanks

Yes it only allows you to search for "words" of four letters or more.

It is a flaw and a big one, in my opinion. Personally I believe the indexing algorithm should allow indexing of three letter words IF they are in all caps, i.e. if they are an acronym. Or if that's too hard to implement for some reason, it could ignore three letter words that were in a dictionary of common three letter words (the, and, etc...) but index uncommon words.

That would allow searching for things like GPS, LEH, MOE, IMR... it would be very useful to be able to search for certain acronyms.

try a search for a brand name instead....ie. garmin

Some board coding requires that search words be a certain length. Three letters might be too short?

Try "garmin" or "global" instead?

Thanks guys, I did not know that about word length. Seems like there shold be some way of permitting some shorter words that are identified and permitted eg GPS, LEH etc... but maybe not?
