Hi there,
I live in Vancouver Island and I was wondering if any of you guys could tell me how do I get a pheasant. Where do I get it?:| I'm looking foward to start training my new GSP and I need to find a pheasant. Please help me if you know of anything.

You might want to try buckerfields just after the silver bridge on your way out of town. I've noticed they get chicken and turkey chicks they might know someone who grows pheasants as well.

For training his dog. You use a dead pheasant for scent training.

you can buy pheasant scent from sir mailorder.

I agree Ruger but nothing better for training then a real bird so the dog can associate the bird with the scent and get used to picking it up.

a quick word of caution though don't think that you buy a couple or a dozen for that matter (phesant chicks) and raise them they are hugely labour intensive and they eat each other we tried it once.....

You can buy a full pheasant skin at a fly tying shop. I used one tied to a dummy to start my pup.

Thank you very much for the help ;) It is to start training my 3 month old GSP.
I can't wait to start it :)
Where can I find a fly tying shop around here? Just in case I can't find the bird.

There is a farm in the parksville area.. i think it is called Hof Walker or something like that. They raise pheasants and chukars for training and hunting. I will find the number for you and post it.
