normally they should start any time. their arrival is just before oolichans show up in the next month or so.I don't know of any places to fish them up that far, we fish them between Alex Fraser and Port Mann. good luck Steve

Sturgeon fishing sounds pretty cool. I'll bet there are some old *******s swimming in that river.

Whats the biggest anyone has ever caught in the Fraser?

shcumas, the F river is stuffed with em. try late april/early may it's very productive. big rod, big reel, long cast , heavy weight, sharp hook and a hunk of salmon. you'll get em. just make sure your weight is heavy enough to hold your gear out there and not wash down into shore. bring the camera !

The flow should start picking up in April but your best bet is in the fall, The biggest for me in 7 1/2 foot to the fork in the tail, The biggest i've seen landed is 8 1/2 to the fork wish it was me!

I guided for them for two years in Lillooet. Caught 7 so far this year in 3 trips the biggest being 5 feet. I lost 2 BIG ones and my buddy lost one. I think the fishing will remain slow till the water warms up a bit. My biggest was 10'7 to the tip of the tail and I've landed 10-12 in the 8 foot range. Had one on last year for 1.5 hours and lost it. When I figure out this computer I'll upload some photos. I heard of a guide in Cillliwack last year who caught a 900lb'er that took over 4 hours to get in. Does anyone know a formula to weigh sturgeon with length and girth measurments?

sturgeonfishing.com has a size/weight chart on there site if you do a search you will find a few more as well. Shimano used a picture of that big pig caught last fall for one of there ad's, that sucker was big!
I hooked one in a local side river back about 5 years ago, It came out of the water about 3 feet with it's head, no joke the gearth was about the size of a 45 gal drum. Then made a couple 200yd dashes before it broke off under my boat. What I would do to relive that one.
