Well my inexperience definitely was in full force today.
I am now hooked on turkey hunting for sure tho.
Early scouting led me to the turkeys. My calling needs some work tho I think.
My first turkey is a small one (beard is maybe only 4") but he snuck up on me! Once I saw he had a beard I got Turkey fever and made the shot. But the younger ones always taste better right?
So now I will do some more 'hunting' with a camera and see if next year (or Fall) can get me some bragging rights.

Thats a nice tom, are their any in Region 2? never hunted toms before just wondering

Don't belittle your turkey you did great. :-D
Any tom is a trophy in BC.
So what are you going to get next year ? Bigger or smaller ?

Don't worry about the size - getting out in the springtime woods is what turkey hunting is all about.

Them yearlings are way better eating that the big ones!!!
I passed on a jake opening morn, and went home empty handed! :cry:
