well I deleted my old avatar and wanted to put up a new one, but it keeps coming up as upload failed. any help?

If you've a photobucket account or an account on one of the many other photo hosting sites. You will be able to downsize your picture to avatar size. Then just use the http link provided and copy/paste to your profile.
