I'll be. I got myself a rug with my .o6 'bout 2 years back, last year I was hunting Grizz ( no luck there), so this year I'm going to try and get a blackie with my bow. We'll see how it goes. As for your weapon decision, either one will be perfectly fine.

Huting bears with dogs????? that would be fun, maybe not fun for the dogs, how do the bears act when you put dogs onto them?? We hunt pigs with dogs down here a lot,but a pig is smaller and does not have claws or biting teeth.

Well if all goes as planned the bear is to tree, it is similiar to running lions hopefully all goes good and you have no wrecks or bears that want to fight the hounds.

I'll probably go look for a blackie later in the spring. There was a nice cinammon bear hanging around my place last summer. I got some awesome video of him, everyone who saw it figured he'd go 7 ft. Hopefully he's back again!8)

I like my 7mm Mag with 175 Partitions for black bear, but my 45/70 has been itchin for some action!

As you probobly know. Shot placement is more important then the question of 7mm or 3006. Having said that try to only take a 110% clean shot at under 100 meters. Just keep the chance of a super hit and a really good memory high.

The 7mm will not like any obstructions. Small as they might be, the bullet will have problems arriving at the place you are aiming at.
The 3006 will be less effected by small things like a bit of gras or a small stick close to the animal.

And don't forget that I have trained tracking dogs if there is a problem in finding your bear. If I am not out guiding yet, I can come and help.

Using my Browning BLR loaded with 165gr TBBC's for close in work, we can bait in certain areas here in Alberta. Using the new 325WSM with 200gr bullets (still have to work up a load) for spot an stalk stuff. Both will be doing double duty if I can get out and chase russian boars again.

I'll be using my 7MM Rem Mag with either 165's or 175's. Either way it's going to tip a blackie over.

Happy Hunting!

I'll be on a grizz trip to try and fill my leh with a friend who also has a leh. Probably buy a black bear tag too just in case I can't find mister grizzer. For Blackies I'll probably use my 7mm WSM, and for the grizzer I have .338 medicine.

Well my wife got me a .338 for christmas so I have to christen it on a bear this spring I think. Just had some 225gr Interbond test loads done, just have to go to the range and see how they group.

I'm gonna smear myself with a paste of sardines and anise, sit on a stump with my trusty old Marlin 30-30 and let em come to me.

Okay, now that is baiting:lol: However, if you are sitting on a stump eating your sardine sandwiches for lunch, I think thats okay;)

If I can find the big guy I spotted last fall, I take him down with my 300wsm 180 grain accubonds. I didn;t take him in the fall cause he was laying having a snooze on a pile of dead salmon (stinky!!!):-D
