I have an old bow I am playing around with, is there a way to tell how far you can unscrew the limb bolts to lighten draw weight without haveing the limb fall off, Thanks

As a general rule I never loosen limb tension bolts more than 4 full turns. Your bow may be a bit different but I would try 3 1/2 turns
first. Good luck.

Pull it with a scale and see what it is now, then you will know if you can go any further out with the bolts.

No telling how long the limb bolts are on an older bow. The safest way to do it is to press the bow, remove the string/cables, and then unscrew the limb bolts.

While the tension is off the limbs, tighten the limb bolts all the way in - then count the rotations that it takes to remove them.

Take something and mark the bolts so that you know where you should stop - obviously make it visible when the limbs are re-assembled.
