 Planning on it Todd, although I am having to "re-calibrate" my rest due to some sighting in problems.

Gotta lower the nocking point and then sight-in the 5 pins so that I might be able to compete wtih something of a remote chance.

What with working 6 or 7 days a week I am finding it hard to get out to do the necesary work.:-(

Hey guys where do the Vic Bowmen shoot out of now? I used to be a member years ago, about 15, when I was growing up in Victoria.

Cappy.......The outdoor range and target area are at the end of Whittaker Rd. There is a Burger King, a Tim Hortons and the Great Canadian Casino on the corners. If you are heading out of town - take the Colwood/Sooke exit and stay to the left. Turn left at Whittaker Rd. The club is to the left of the commisionaire booth. If in doubt ask the guy that takes your name and license number.

Same place as it always was. Spent many many hours walking around there as a teenager. My Dad used to be an instructor down at Damage Control, used to drop in for lunch then walk the course. There was one nice blacktail in particular that used to call that area home was a real nice 5x5.

Just wanted to say that my 9-year old son and and I are new to archery and specifically 3D target shooting. We joined the Cowichan Club this year. The Cowichan 3D Safari shoot was our first, and we attended the Vic Bowmen shoot. We have had a fantastic time at both and met some great people.

We have found the archery community to be very friendly and have made us feel welcome. The events are well organized, safe and affordable (save for a few lost or broken arrows).

Thanks to all and especially to the volunteers.

We expect to attend most of the Island events this year.

As Eagle1 said....it was a great day, a great shoot, and it was well organized as far as the targets and their setup went. Some very interesting shots and the terrain was dry, comfortable and pleasant. Congratulations to the organizers and the volunteers who spent their Saturday setting everything up.

Good to see new people out there enjoying themselves - especially Zach, who took a ribbon and by all accounts had a super day. He's as tall as his bow! I think his brother took home a ribbon as well. Watch out for these two in the years to come.

Apparently when I graciously let my "little bro" win (in our friendly family competition) it went unnoticed by a certain group from up-island. Much is being made of a few tiny points. Oh well, I guess I'll get my reward in heaven?

Bowsitter's son Mark took the Junior Compound by a good 20 point margin. Very good for someone who has only attended his second shoot. He also took second at the Cowichan shoot a couple of weeks ago. Like a duck to water some say.

But then most of us have heard ducks fart in shallow waster before.........n'cest pas? Congrats to Markasaurus. How about that for a handle for this site Mark?? Or maybe Duckphartr?

Enough teasing. It is a cool feeling to be able to enjoy "my" sport with my brother and my nephew - especially when they are having a bucketful of fun themselves.

It was also nice to renew a couple of acquaintances that I have not seen since last year. Namely Nails and Bochunk. Hope you shot well Todd and Steve.

Looking forward to the Malahat shoot since I have to miss the Harry Tutton shoot in Qualicum. Now that is also a super shoot.

Well I must say it was a lot of fun beating my bro (bowalker) at "his" sport, But my son and I had the greatest time just getting out and shooting the course that they had set up. It was a lot of fun shooting the different variety of shots that they had there. We especially liked the shot from up on the bluff down onto the field to the wolf and deer. We will be there for their next shoot for sure!:D

Bowalker,

Zach's "brother" is actually his friend Sean. Sean is two and a half years older and they were competing like crazy out there on Sunday. Sean loves the sport and I've been trying to get his Dad to come out to give it a try. Until then he'll probably be coming out with us. He's pretty persuasive and I hate to leave him at home when he loves shooting so much. Though I don't know if I can take the arguing.

The only saving grace is Sean is shooting recurve and Zach is shooting compound, so they're not going head to head.

Boys will be boys:)

Ken.
