Well it was a long hard and warm season in the world famous"BOW ZONE". Deer were scarce and far between. everyone i spoke with said there must have been a winter kill. As a die hard shed hunter i did not notice alot of dead deer. I am running several cameras and found not much movement and that all the deer had become nocturnal. As a whitetail freak you always hope to get one better than the previous year. early on i had a 150" non-typical come buy and passed on him  I noticed he had a broken back leg and from last year he had put on 60"inches of horn. It did pay off as i was beginning to think it wouldn't. Last Friday i was rattling and all of the sudden it sounded like a rutting bull moose was coming. Breaking branches making a scrape and letting everyone no he was coming to kick some @#@#. I thought he would come right in and give me a broad side shot, but no. I manged a deadly shot anyways. This is my second biggest whitey in 10 years of bow hunting, in hunting general. I am new to the sport but learn very quickly. Those of you that have parents that took you hunting enjoy it because there are those of us that will never get that, and for that i envy you all. He gross at 168" Every time i try and put pics on here they get a red x threw them ?????? If someone can get these pics on here please do so. Thanks. http://i590.photobucket.com/albums/ss348/Bearen09/09_Deer_118-1.jpg http://i590.photobucket.com/albums/ss348/Bearen09/09Deer179.jpg http://i590.photobucket.com/albums/ss348/Bearen09/2blacky.jpg http://i590.photobucket.com/albums/ss348/Bearen09/IMG_1225.jpg

Very Nice! Gotta love rattlin in those bad boys! I can't wait to get out and do some of that again! I had a blacktail come charging in thru the bush like that once! Just on scent and a call! Wow, what an adrenaline rush! Was up in a tree stand with the recurve and he just wouldn't come the last bit to break thru the bushes and present a shot! Congrats again on an excellent Whitetail! Hope to see pics of him on the wall!

I am new to the sport but learn very quickly. Those of you that have parents that took you hunting enjoy it because there are those of us that will never get that, and for that i envy you all.

With the quote above you touched a nerve in me. I am one of the "lucky" hunters that was born and raised in a hunter family. For the reasons you mention I made it my personal obligation to help as many young and novice hunters from non hunting families as possible. From experience I know that there many hunters like you but only a few carry on all the way like you did. Most give up because they find it to hard without the benefit of guidance by an experienced hunter.

From one to another whitetail "fanatic" congratulations on a great deer. You deserve it.

Great pics, congrats on the huge whitey. Did ya lose the points on that extra little tine (g1)? probably would have made the book if it were'nt for that. Never the less, an impressive bow kill!

Thats a beauty and with a bow to boot ! Right on
I started the sport alone with nobody to learn from or help for that matter either, I can relate.
I cant wait to take my 3 month son out for the first time, it will surpass any thrill I've already had 100x.

No he wasn't. He is not hunting much these days, also putting on allot of weight. I have been trying to get him out but he doesn't seem interested.I am sure as a bear outfitter he is starting to get exited.A couple more days and the season is done, how about you how many more days.

Awesome buck, Bearen! I also came from a non-hunting family, but one thing thats certain is that no kids of mine will! I assume you're in the Edmonton bow zone from the look of the country... I hunt the Calgary bow zone like a savage, but whities are tough to bowhunt where I go. Open grasslands with few trees big enough to treestand. There are some hog mulies though... Congrats again on a great buck!
