View Full Version : Any Lower Mainland Ranges allow drop in's?
My Brother-in-law and I want to take my dad out for his first time shooting on Saturday but we do not have a membership at a range yet, we are going to look into that for thenew year. Is there any ranges out there that will let us just come shoot for the morning for a Drop in fee? or do we have to go with someone who is a member?
Thanks for your replies,
Rhys

I'm thinking that the only one, all the others you need a member to take you as a guest. There's a few that won't even let you do that.
Okay guys thanks for the replies, I will try to get in contact with them.

Hi Rhys, T.M.S.A. also has day cards at 15 dollars. Ther public range is onley 50, 60 yard,s long. It might not be long enought for you, but good to play on for a new shooter?
Thanks again for the replies guys. We are going to try out the poco range on Saturday hopefully it is good. Its my first time to a controlled range and Dad's first time shooting so we should have some fun!

Rhys , if i was thinking when i read this the other day i should have told you to go early as it does get busy at times.Sorry i should have thought about that.
No worries! We were up there today about 10 am and stayed until 1:30pm, it was awesome, My dad loved it, I started him off shooting my Winchester .22 with a 6x scope on it at 25 yards to get his confidence up, he was shooting out the bulleye in no time, moved him onto 50 yards same thing, he shot about 200 rounds of .22, I also had him shooting the Cooey .22 with iron sights, he did great with that too. Then he starting looking at my 30-06 and sheepishly said.."uh..Can I try that one?" HaHa, he seems to be pretty good firing off 1.5-2" groups at 200 yards by the end of the day. Now if I can just get him to reimburse me for the 2 boxes of 30-06 that he blasted through!
What an awesome day. I will be looking to get a range membership sometime in the near future so hopefully he will want to come along again in the future. I got a good video of him shooting the 30-06 and he can't wait for my mom to get home so I can show he before I go back home to burnaby!
Thanks for the advice guys, looks like we might have a new shooter in the family.

If you have a shotgun or two, preferably 12Ga, take him out to the trap club for some fun! Vancouver Gun Club, Langley Gun Club, and Pitt Meadows gun club all allow drop in shooters. Day fee is usually $10, plus $4-5 for a 25 target round of trap. After a couple of practise rounds, have a little competition, say 5 cents per broken target.Keep in mind to only bring lead shot "target" shells, or buy them at the club.
