Got my first ruffie with my new little Mossberg today. I like it! Sure a smooth little unit.

The hound's wondering if he will get a morsel from tonight's grouse stirfry! 8)

I think I need one of those8).

4 grouse down this yr for me so far(cost me 2 arrows:icon_frow) but I could have have at least 10-15 this past week if I had some fire-power like you.

Good job! Bet the hound went hungry. We all know how much you like breasts.:-D

It's hard to believe but I took these archery birds during a GOS grouse firearm season. Cagier "Fools" you've never seen!! I'm pretty sure I saw one move its head when my first arrow whizzed by its head!!!!!

Get out! Everyone knows you can't kill anything with a bow once GOS rifle season opens! Especially if there are KIDS out shooting ditch chickens with guns...that spells the DEATH of archery success!

I may be wrong, but I believe it is illegal to shoot yearling grouse or any grouse in the company of yearling grouse. I don't want to assume the worst, but that middle one looks like a yearling to me.

Were all three shot from the same position or do you just not like re-shooting yucky arrows? Do you have better luck with the judo points than blunts?

Nice haul SSS.
Ah, how many did FD get with the scatter-gun.? Pretty soon he won't want bows allowed in the GOS grouse season.

Mum, Dad and Junior...all from the same spot:).

First chickens that I've ever skewered....actually first grouse that I've killed in many years since I don't like wasting TSX's on them....although arrows are a tad more costly:-?

I was using Eastman's Shocker tips. Mostly pass throughs....one stuck in. Not enough experience to offer an opinion. Shot another Ruffy that also passed through.

SSS doesn't care what arrows cost. He threw a bunch in the bush when we were bear huntin' this spring just to lighten his pack for the walk back to the truck. The guy is made of money.

Fresh grouse for supper is a very high class meal in some places of the world.
Our dogs always got the feet and heads for a job well done.
Wayda go grouse hunters!

Only one that I saw that gave me an opportunity for a shot. Saw two others, one flew immediately and the other did the road runner impression and disappeared into the thick shit.

I think they've been spooked by archers who were pounding the roads looking for easy game Sep 1 - 9. Ba$tards.

You've got a pump gun now. It's ok to shoot them while they fly, really. It's even legal and everything

I didn't even have the truck stopped yet when that first one blasted off. See the other thread on here for my opinion about the legality and safety of shooting from a vehicle (unless you're Gatehouse and following all the safety recommendations for shooting grouse with one hand while driving a diesel truck down an old logging road with the other).
