Islandeer.......although I am not familiar with the down in the area you are talking about I did read on a fishing report page about the fishing being fairly good near the "breakwater"??? If that means anything to you???

Good luck....it's always a fun time of year to get out on the water.....in a heated and covered boat!

I am originally from Winnipeg, but in Vancouver for the past 10 yrs.

The Pas is a good ways off to the Northwest of Winnipeg. Probably a good 8 hour drive. I have spent time up in that area hunting and fishing though. Nice country!

Let's keep things posted on the "winter watersports".

Went off the hump today at Kitty Coleman, caught 6 in 3 hours. Only one was legal, would have liked to take another but he wouldnt stretch another half inch !
4 on a green and glow coyote, one on a cop car and one on an anchovy.
Water was calm and the sun even poked its head out a few times, good day for sure.

My dad used to live on the Island, so I'm sure he's had a few winter spring salmon episodes, haha. I've only ever fished for them in the summer, Bella Coola and Kitamat. Got to say I love going to fish the Atnarko in June and July, pinks and chum are a blast too.

36 lbs is huge! Congrats
-never fished winter springs anywhere except the holes outside of Pender Harbour
-my parents used to have a place at Madeira Park, my Dad and I would bundle up and head out to seek winter springs
-deep holes from the harbour mouth up towards Epsom Pt. would usually yield a fish or two.
-watch your rod tip, they always seem to strike on the way up
-lots of coffee and a dry towel are in order
-our average was about 12lbs

BS, where did you fish today? We were in Becher Bay and it was quite choppy. Only seen one fish caught, but is hasn't been real consistent lately. My brother was out last week and slayed them but went out a couple of days later and never got a sniff, it's been real hit or miss.

Was out again today for a couple hours, managed to boat a decent 10 pounder and released one that was too small. Lost another.
Gotta love the gps, if it werent for that these past few days wouldnt have been fishable, man is it foggy here !!! I couldnt see 50 feet today. All the springs I have taken home have been red too, which I think taste much better than the whites. Too bad none of em have made it to the deep freeze yet, they are either eaten by us or family faster than I can catch em, Mmm mmm mmm.

Marine forecast called for gail force winds but not a leaf was moving around my house this morning. So I headed for Cheanuh thinking that if it blows up I can still find shelter.
Well the marine forecast won. We got to the dock and it was blowing 30k. We hit the water anyways and got kicked around for a bit before giving in.
"A" for effort.
