Well just got back from a piggy hunt in Florida. Had to do some kind of hunting to ready for spring griz. Not quite comparable, however the teeth are!

Took a newbie, and my wife and sister for a stand hunt for a day on a ranch in Florida. They are wild boars on a ranch, 100 acres, they breed and live fairly naturally, they are fed from time to time as are most ranches when you have 450 pigs on only 100 acres. Caught pigs in the area are also droped off at the ranch. Then they are hunted again.

Hunting takes place from a stand with a guide. He shows you what a good hog looks like and guesses size. And keeps you safe with a 500 S&W on the walk around the ranch. They are dangerous and will charge you!

It was a really fun hunt. Costs $500US for a day or $800 for two days and includes food. The people are really nice, and very southern.

They are shooting 100% on the hunts, so you will get a nice boar. Hogs are judged by thier tusk size. They are mounted and shipped back to you for $500 more dollars. Should be here in 6 months. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn5/bigbore14/IMG_3019.jpg

Started the day driving out on a swamp buggy.

Big black and wooly, with big tusks, my buddy shot a meat hog. All the meat was given to some friends of ours in florida to be made into sausage and whatnot.

The Gators were in a swamp that we rented canoes and kayaks in. Most were about 10 foot long. The water was quite shallow 12-18 inches, and they were swiming under the boats. My wife was terrified the whole time.

I did a swamp boat ride last year and it seemed a bit too safe for my liking, so I went with a really tippy kayak. The pigs were however you want to hunt them. I did a bit of everything including some road hunting, spot and stalk, feeders, and bait. The grizz plans are coming together for 5-08 A. Kwatna bay.

Rifle was supplied. No hunting experience or licence was required. You are able to stay at the lodge, however we decided to make the 1:30 hour drive at 4am and got a speeding ticket doing so. Officer says, "where you guys headed." Not thinking I replied, "Pig hunting". No mercy was shown to us. Nor did he believe we were really going hog hunting.

We were able to take all the meat, however I ended up not trying even one bite as we gave all the meat away to some friends. Should have done it at the begining of our trip rather than at the end.

The mahi mahi was delicious, the sail fish was released, as they are not good eating, and you can get a mount done with measurments.
