Good eye!
This person deserves a prize.

It's a 15 year old Blue & Gold. I bought it for The War Dept., when it was 6 months.

My pictures are no where near as good as Dean's !

These are of one of my Reeves hens. Their favorite place is under the Cedars. They get impatient for summer now and again and plow their way out to them .

I'm quite surprised! I did a 2 week, summer scouting stint last summer and cached away a lot of pics that weren't relevant of what I was after (Bears & Deer). Earlier this week I clicked on an old folder and was plesantly amazed at all it contained.

A lot of Grouse got tossed to the side.

California Valley Quail, to be precise. You can tell by the distinct scaling on the breast. The Gambel's lacks this distinct feature.

Here is a picture of one male of mine on sentinal duty. Eight of his young are out in the run below him.

Do you raise these birds to shoot them? like for pointer training? or so you raise birds as a hobby?

Actually Reeves, they are all wild turkeys! I looked into it for some time when I spotted these birds because of their strange grey colour. The reason for it now eludes me, but I do see to recall that it is not entirly uncommon. These birds were in the rock creek area, while I was out deer hunting with a family member. We spotted them, and my uncle asked me to let Coleman loose to see what he would do, well, it was actually more interesting to see what the birds did! The walked right up to my dog from about 100 yards and completely circled him!

Here they are after coming right up to my dog
http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s304/sachaszymczak/DSC_0278.jpg

and here is a decent close up of one of these grey turkeys

They likely were turned loose from someone place. Maybe they got tired of them ?
Not "normal" for them to not fear a K-9 of any kind.

Blue Slate Turkeys are what they are ?
