Heres some pics as a result of uncountable hours of snowshoing! Enjoy!

Hes just a runt, but the blood in the snow was barely stiffened up when I found this. This was about Jan. 15 and the first of my sheds this year.

Not 50 yards away, but 2 weeks later, I found this beauty!

4 hours of ground pounding and 4 sheds later, I found its mate almost burried.

Heres a nice 5x6 set from last year, lying only 5 feet apart, uncovered by the nearby 3 feet of snow. (Closest pair ever for me)

heres a buddies shed pile so far, he wanted me to post this for him, he can speak up and take credit for it if he chooses.

Heres my collection so far, excluding the dandys coming up real soon! 4 sets which all came pretty easy this year, note the bottom set is from the big 2 point buck in my scouting thread.

http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/../photos/data/500/medium/IMGA0238.JPG (http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/../photos/showphoto.php?photo=12944&size=big&cat=recent&limit=recent)

Imagine my excitement, when "en route" to my shedding spot, I see this sticking out of the snow. The pic doesnt do it justice, but thats a 6 inch base with a huge pedicle!

Heres what I unearthed! It was so frozen in the ground, I couldnt pull it by hand, had to kick it twice.

Heres another angle on the Gem! A tape wouldnt do him any justice, but this shed is heavy duty, with some very cool charactor junk!
I searched for hours, but I feel the mate is burried deep under the snow...I will return to find it!

http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/../photos/data/500/medium/IMGA0239.JPG (http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/../photos/showphoto.php?photo=12947&size=big&cat=recent&limit=recent)

I didnt get an ATL as I had to scale over an edge of a cliff to retrieve this sucker. Funny part is I walked within 20 feet of it in hunting season with no snow, and found it yesterday sticking out of 2 feet????
It tapes out at 84" typical with 8" of extras for a whopping 92", A 205-210" grossing buck, my best shed ever!!!!!

http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/../photos/data/500/medium/IMGA0231.JPG (http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/../photos/showphoto.php?photo=12948&size=big&cat=recent&limit=recent)

Now immediately this shed looked very familiar to me, I called up buddy on my way home, and stopped by to confirm my thoughts.....

http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/../photos/data/500/medium/IMGA0237.JPG (http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/../photos/showphoto.php?photo=12949&size=big&cat=recent&limit=recent)

Heres the history, buddy found the brown shed on the right 4 years ago on the very same ridge. Another buddy has the match to that one also. Back then it had a 190 plus mainframe with about 10" of lil extras, yes a 200" gross buck. would of net scored about 180 as a typical.

That year, the buck was seen several times and missed by 2 archers!

They thought the buck was long gone, now I find his antler about 2 years old I figure. Hes lost a lil length, gained a lil mass, as well a couple extra points, overall 2" larger. We can only hope hes still roaming the hills!
OK im done now, must find more!

Hey Tooley, the same buddy I borrowed the other shed from has a palmated shed that looks very much like your buck! I will try and get a picture of it soon!
On a side note, when I pulled this shed, the first thing I thought of was this shed I found 2 years ago, similar but not the same buck!

Mark,
Some nice tine there. That NT shed has some cool character. Chasing tine in heavy snow is no easy task. You should pace yourself though, as I've seen the young bucks wear themselves out every year because they think being the first one out wins the race. Most of the time they are burned out by the time the snow begins to melt. I've been at this game for a long long time, and I know it is pretty much pointless going out this time of year. You'll be walking over a ton of buried tine that will be right in front of your eyes come April.

Dana, you make a good point which im well aware of! It hasnt snowed much here in the last month so much of the tine is laying right on top! As well it seems to me that most muleys shed out early this year.Last year I didnt even get my first til march!
I know im hiking right over top of burried tine for sure, but ive got some extra time on my hands and I enjoy the exercise. Im actually not beating the areas to death, more just cruising the hills to see where all the deer have been wintering. Everywhere Ive hiked so far will have to be redone after the snow melts. 3 of the freshies Ive found right off the seat of the snowmobile!
P.S. I have been very careful not to push the deer around!

I've got friends the shed hunt quite a bit but in the last couple of years all they're finding are Mark's boot tracks:lol:.

As mark said it has hardly snowed since the first week in January.
Cat hunting has been really crappy until the last weekend of the season.
There was some good x-mas action and shortly thereafter...but that was it.

I keep forgetting that you guys don't have much snow down there this year. We've got way more on the winter range than I've seen for years. And it had no base up until about a couple weeks ago. Most of the bucks shed out early this year, first couple weeks of Jan. No doubt all that tine fell to the bottom of the deep stuff and will stay there until spring finally releases them. My comments were actually more a poke at a couple young bucks that frequent this site that I know are probably reading this thread. Noticed snowshoe tracks off the highway the other day and quite certain those 2 boys are hitting the hills already. Full of piss and vinager but they seem to fizzle out well before the good sheddin happens. Seems this old guy always kicks their asses. ;) They might beat me in numbers, but I could care less about pickin up dink shed after dink shed. :)
