My family and I yesterday went out to visit a bird sanctuary and had a great time. I have never seen so many ducks in my life. There were Mallards, Widgeon, Pintail, 1 teal, wood ducks, bluebill, coot and 2 Canada's.

December of 2006 my dad shot a "Pin-lard" (Pintail/Mallard) at Cowichan Bay. Yesterday we saw one so this is what it looked like.

Yesterday we also saw this one at the Sanctuary and I think it is a "Shov-lard" (Shovler/Mallard I think?).

Thats pretty cool! I'd like to take the pinlard to the taxidermy.

We thought about it, but by the time the idea came to us it was too late! I guess i'll have to remember it in a tastier way.

Yep, a mallard/pintail cross for sure. They're beautiful birds and on alot of guys wish lists to one day shoot.

That second one doesnt really look like a shoveler cross more often then not those colourings come from mallard/park ducks, you'll see aton of them on certain ponds or areas where the wild breed with pet raised ones. But who knows, its a different colouring on the back, and from the pictures looks a little smaller then the other mallards.

That mallard/pintail is quite the trophy.

I was amazed of the coots. They make strange sounds, and have huge feet for their body.
