Nice collection ya got there, SHACK!

While I don't have "a" room, the limited stuff that I do have is spread out and about the house. This is our official greeter; He's what you see once the door is opened:

Couldn't help but notice the "Trophy's", in the picture frame.....

Here's a plaque of my 1st ever Big Game animal, a Muley:

I hung it on the dining room wall for this picture, it normally seeks refuge at the end of our main hallway. We used an old leather coat of mine for the wrapping.

This is why I have a basement home as my wife does not want trophys all over the house. This is my den and I'm already into the home theatre room with yet more at the taxidermist.

I fixed it up for ya. If you 'space' the pics out, they don't do that. ie after you type your text, slap 'enter' a couple times. Same said when adding another pic.

WTS, I notice this thead shoulda been posted in the Pictures Forum. I'll move it over,,,, but no more "fixes". I don't have Mod status over there.

For fun,I thought I would throw up a mount of my buddy's.He hung it over his bed before the wife got home and tried to tell her it was a piece of furniture. It was relocated to his den about 5min. after she walked in the room.

RD, I see your antler mounts go back into the velvet phase like mine do. Peter always says, "Time to dust, woman, the Moose is back in velvet."

some sweet looking trophies everyone - we don't have a den either so our critters are scattered as well for now until basement is renovated, then we will have the games room.

This fella is/was Mule Deer #2. He hangs in the stairwell and usually gets missed by the eyes of our guests until they leave and head back down the stairs again.

Last piece. This is the 3rd Muley that I have taken. He provided a memorable hunt and now sits on the same cabinet as the bear skull.

Funny thing is, I wasn't really sure about Euro's; My Jury was out on them until I saw this end result. Up until the finished product was presented too me, I never got a real good look at one before. And now that I have it, I am real glad that I permitted myself in being talked into it.

My wife thinks that I now need my own den as she's losing wall space and getting a "little" defensive about it.
She isn't a big fan of the "euro" look...actually prefers a shoulder mount. I told her she will learn to like it or it wll cost another grand:?.

What our guests see upon entry. My wife's only request is no bears "Welcoming" our guests:wink:.

My mounts are sort of spread out throughout the house... I don't really have a den.

When I was a kid my Grandpa took me to Norman Lougheeds house (Great Rams & Great Ram Hunters)

His trophy room was an addition on his house and somewhere around the size of a school gym. He had every kind of animal you could think of.... I mean everything.

A big rock wall at one end with his sheep and goats and then walls lined pretty much from floor to ceiling with heads and horn.

Quite impressive... I remember he even had a monkey taxidermied to hold up one of his lamps!!!

When he passed away all of the mounts went to a hotel somewhere in lake louise?

Cause she is the cook and I don't want to starve or have to pack my lunch for hunting LOL.....

Smart man KK1.

My wife of 28 years doesn't want trophys [except one headless goat rug] hung in her living space.

But she works full-time, has supper ready when I get home and makes my lunch for work. I hunt most of my holidays, lots of weekends and many evenings. For extended trips she shops and prepares food for me AND my partners. She thinks it's "cute" that I'm so obssessed.

I don't get much mounted anyway, so if she wants it stuck in my hunting room then that's going to be fine with me.

But , man, some of you guys have some awesome, awesome rooms and mounts!!!

Brambles
02-01-2009, 09:25 AM
If I had a good sized room hunting room I'd be more than happy to move my mounts out of the living room, but until that time comes the wife has very little say in what gets hung, she has a little say in Which wall a particular head gets put on but thats pretty much it.

Cause she is the cook and I don't want to starve or have to pack my lunch for hunting LOL.....

kenkell, I meant no disrespect to your wife at all in my comment, I just myself have a real problem with the term allow, I know some people do not want to have "animals" hanging on their walls as a choice but to say you are not allowed just sounds very selfish considering it is also your home as well, and from the sounds of it you are fine with the arrangement you which is what matters

I just have this opinion that if my hubby is lucky enough to get an animal he feels extremely proud of and spends the money to have it mounted, it should be displayed for him to enjoy so I chose to decorate our house more in the cabin style decore and hope to have beautiful animals to add to the ambiance of the rooms

I just can't wait to have a critter I have harvested to add to the wall, I hang photos to save my space for when I get my critter (that way he can't sneak something on my part of the wall)

oh for those who have asked me about "Gander's house" hehehehe I spoke to Rob last night about his den, he says the Gander website has the family home, considering the shop was where they boys grew up, they had the best dang den of Critters to look at, all their shop photos are copywrited so if you are interested in seeing their den displays you have to go to the website :)

I have thoroughly enjoyed everyone's photos here, as they sure inspires a person and has given some excellent ideas for types of mounts and how placements should be made when considering an animal mount, thank you for sharing everyone

Thanks, an accumulation of stuff by John, Benny and myself. We had some others, but our son Pete moved into another house on the farm here and took his with him. Lots of great memories. Ben's Vancouver Island Black Beer has a fun story. He had just got off knee surgery at the age of 12 and wanted to go bear hunting. Managed to hobble up (using a cane) on his first bear and took him. Realizing that it wasn't a huge bear, but his first he asked our taxidermist Terry Woodworth if he could add antlers. Hence, VI Black Beer - a great conversation piece, and much more to our region than the jackalope. :)

Lloyd, last night I was told I needed more experience as I have only been hunting a short time and to not rush myself as he admitted being a meat hunter in the beginning and now he says he considers himself a trophy hunter but he says in time everyone desire the one first trophy animal, the book trophy and when it is gifted to you never forget to thank the "supreme being" of your choice and you will continued to be rewarded in life :)
