Nice pic. What sort of camera gear do you carry around and do you use any particular software for further development? Shooting wildlife via gun, bow, camera or whatever is all part of hunting to me! I've used my digital panasonic lumix fz20 for lots of great wildlife shots!

Well, at the ripe ole age of 55, I don't think that there is much left that's soft - excepting (of course) the one thing that shouldn't be........

Nikon D80. This pic used a 70-300 zoom lens set @ 300 with an aperture of 5.6 film speed was set 400

Other than the 'magic' of the lens, the pic is pretty much as it is. Photoshop cropped out about 1/10 of peripheral crap and I then adjusted the exposure by 1 f-stop. Resized for the upload and, of course, adjusted the sharpness for the massive down-sizing.

.... other than the sharpening, nothin' more than what I could do if I were in a darkroom working w/ film formats.

Haven't figured the artsy-fartsy end of 'Shop. Just not much interest.

"Good morning,,, Good morning..... Do we ever have a pill for you....."

Was that lens a Nikkor? I am looking at the same lens type, and If its for example a Sigma, then I will save a bundle

Imo it's a nice pic, however I won't give you top marks only because of the distraction caused by the white puffs , although nicely out of focus, they should be imo offset to the right of the main subject. Chuck.

Yes, Charlie. It's a Nikkor w/ anti-vibe built in (2 modes).

This pic was taken hand-held, using a shutter speed of 1/250ths a sec. Impossible to do otherwise (300mm digi equates to 450 film...), ya'd need a tri-pod to pull it off. Once you were all set up *poof* subject matter GONE.

IMO, Sigmas don't measure up. GOOD if you're on a budget but if bought, you never end up upgrading.... My case anyways.

All comes down to what ya want in the end.

Tell me about it..... Although National Geographic won't use it on a cover, it was all that was offered - Making the best out of what was presented.

That 'lill buggar was on the run!!! and just stopped on that little mound *briefly*, before heading for cover.

edit - Someone yarded their critique.... It was actually welcomed.
Looks like I now get flowers instead.

What kinds are they?

The file gets shrunk MASSIVELY.

I lost the originals of a couple earlier postings... learned about 'shrinkage' when trying to retrieve a copy back.

I went back and did some looking and found this;

http://www.huntingbc.ca/photos/data/500/DSC_0080-2.jpg

Just another Grouse ().... Seems as though I have oodles of em.

It's not the same bird as I posted earlier but IS another hen that also had chicks that was on the same trail. Clearwater seemed too have a bumper crop of these fella's last year - We had to be real careful not to run over babies that were trotting up-n-down trails and roads.
