Took this old brute with 20 minuites of shooting light left on the last day of this years Alberta hunt.
He is an old warrior, thick horns on the decline and a huge body. I'll take a character buck like this any day, sometimes score doen't come into play

He looks like me after Christmas dinner! Good old grain fed prairie deer. Gnarly old buck, way to go. How were his teeth?

His teeth were about 3/4 of the way gone, he had a puss pocket on his ass about the size of a 2lb margerine container . At some point in his life he had been hit high in the shoulder and it was a bis lump running back into his backstraps. His body was as big as any mulie I have ever taken, somewhere in the 300 lb range

Wow, nice buck Ken! Who'll be doing the taxidermy work? LOL. Look at the neck on that thing! Just got back from my own Alberta WT hunt but will do a separate thread.

Nice buck Ken, glad to hear you connected on your Alberta hunt. That buck sure is thick in the neck and shoulders. Nice dark heavy rack too. Are you going to work your majic on him or ???

Athabasca region, they lost 50-70-% of the deer last winter and it really showed. Will take a while to rebuild.

Absolutely do not want to steal your thunder. That is a peach of an animal. I'm only showing this to reinforce your point. You constantly see perfect trophies. Farm land or urban. These deer never fought for nuttin. When you drop something, gut it, let it hang in 15 below overnight. The next day its everything two men that look more like sasquatches can do to drag the rigged body a 100 yards down hill on snow. Throughout the rest of the process you find rotten teeth, a 30 and 243 cal slug festered into the meat from years past. Your taxidermist calls you after he's started it and says"I've been doing this 30 yrs, Do you realize what you've shot?"And yes he had much higher scoring wider racks in his shop. I guess where I'm going is through all that I really am honored. Way more honored to have a war horse like yours on the wall than a perfect walt disney deer. GOOD ON YOU MAN
