Well I got my first doe tag... for 8-12.
I am very excited to try for my first deer...

Anyone got any hints they would like to share about some good areas? I dont mind hiking into the bush.

Thanks!

I'll be heading up there myself tomorrow. I'm not sure where we'll be camping, but I will have my old (red) Isuzu Trooper and my B-I-L will have his Landcruiser Wagon. Stop and say hi if you see us.

There are lots of whitetails in 8-12, and if you're willing to get into the trees, you won't have a problem.

You'll do fine with a doe tag! I don't think you'll get much detail from anyone on where to go but you probably won't need it either :) Grab yourself a backroads mapbook and check out a few roads... Go for a walk and try to find some newer cuts and you WILL see deer!
Good luck-post a trip report when you get home

Does in 8-12? Take your time and dont go too far from the truck. I got half a dozen in the yard right now! Need me to tie one up?

You will not have a problem finding a doe with a bit of time spent.

Just a quick note.
If you are hunting in the Kettle Valley your NOT in 8-12. The KV is 8-14.
Try any cut block around Big White/Beaverdell/Carmi. You should not have any trouble.
Have a great time.

Make sure you get a mulie tag also. Can take any mulie buck till the 20th.They get pretty dumb this time of year and can be easy pickens.

Just to clarify the 8-12 boundaries...... The west half of the KV is 8-12 from Westbridge to Rock Creek. West Kettle is 8-12 and yes extends to Big White and east to the Okanagan Height of Land.

The whities are everywhere here!

Make very sure it is a whitetail doe and not a mule deer doe before you take it, cuz it isn't as easy to recognize if they are laying down or looking straight at you while standing. Just my little bit of advice but hunt early just after light too. You will connect and have excellent organic meat treats, the best on your trip. Your bro-Jelvis.

There are some nice cuts just north of Carmi on Hwy 33. You can see them right from the road. Walk back up the logging roads and watch the cuts. Could get pretty busy up there though so be careful. Good luck.

I second the Carmi station area. I filled my tag a few years ago in very short order.

Just spent a few days last weekend in 8-15 where I filled my LEH white-tailed doe tag. There are lots of does (white-tailed and muleys) around. We only saw one buck though and he was crossing a road, definitely within 400m.

Be picky the does are all over the place. Have fun.
