Well I am heading out tonight for Alberta to hunt with my buddy Jason.
This has becom a seasonal thing for my Dad and myself. I got him back into hunting with this trip last year. After we got back I baught him a Benelli Super Nova and a HS Hitman layout. Now he does some scouting when he gets the chance and give me a update
I/we are heading to Barrier tonight. Spending the night with a uncle and moving on on at six am tommorow.
They have been hammering the snows the last couple of weeks so I am keeping my fingers crossed. Especialy for the ole man. He has never seen big flocks of birds work. Only on our dvd's.
The weather has cooled off considerably with temps below zero at night and I belive it is only going to range from four to eight degrees on the high side during the day.
Wish us luck and good luck to all of you during our opener here.
happy hunting.
Johnny

 Well we got back last night and we had a blast. We did a snow hunt the first morn. We nailed twenty. Not a big shoot but it was still great. It was the first time my dad and myself ever hunted snow. I dropped a nice mature bird off to the taxidermist in Agassiz today.
We nailed more than a hundred birds while there. Should have had alot more but for whatever reason my shooting was horrible. Was okay on the first day but went downhill after that. (sorry jason)
I will post some pics later on. The wife has my camera already so I have to get it back to load them up.

I hope this works. If not can some one give me a hand here please.
these a few pics of our trip to Alberta.
This was/is a very fun trip. I know that it is not for everyone but my father and I save up what we can and are going to try to do this on a yearly basis. I took my dad last year and now he has gotten back into hunting. He didn't hunt for about ten years. He had by pass operation and tried to go out a couple of years later and the adrenaline rush was too much for his heart at that time. So he put his gun away and never bothered to try again.
After last years trip I baught him the super nova and a layout. Now he goes to scout and looks forward to every hunt that we do together. He turned seventy last june.
This was the first time that the old man and I have ever shot snow geese.
We took one to be mounted.
We ran into the bra after a duck hunt. We were coming out of the field and stopped to get rid of the willow branches and looked over and there it was hanging in the tree. LOL. Alberta wildlife!!

We had a lot of fun and are already looking forward to next year.

Great pictures and it sure looks like anyone who went to the prairies this year was in for an excellent hunt!
Don't worry about the fact your shooting wasn't up to par, shooting from a layout will do that to all of us! Also, if the call to shoot is late, the birds are close and hard to swing on..... and then there may have been a bit of a distraction with so many birds in the air all around the one you are shooting at!!!
I'm hoping to go back next year, my buddy has family in Mackland (sp) and he says we will do very well there.
