We spent a few days up in Atlin looking for moose last week. The weather was far too warm and the bugs far too thick, but we still managed a nice bull.

This guy came hot and heavy to the call, thanks to Ronnie Shockey and his friends from Kitimat!! (inside joke). We saw a huge caribou, some sheep and landscape beyond description. I hope they keep that area open next year, but have heard it might all be shut down.

This bull measured 55" across, and would have gone more but one of his tines was broken off. He had been fighting pretty steady and was all cut and bruised on his flanks. This is the best bull I have ever seen and taken, so I'm pretty pleased. Shot at 190 yards with a 338 Win Mag, 210 gr. Barnes Triple Shock (check Pet Loads, the 210 gr load cloverleafs at 100 yards).

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to get a bull that would make my heart skip a beat (I knew it wasn't gonna be me as I tagged out on an immy!)

Good work, that's a pretty good bull!

Hey,

Thanks for all of the comments on the bull and the hunt. It was a great time up there. I hope everyone has the best of luck this season, whatever animal it is that you decide to track. I have a bear and a moose down now, so I guess I will be focusing some time on a deer trip.:-)

Awsome looking looking moose - and your 100% about the landscape - I spent 3 years working a placer mine in Atlin (before opting for a non seasonal desk job...what a dummy) and vow to return 1 day - hopefully for a rack like you have there!

Congrats on the moose. It is awsome country up there. Was there this summer. Funny we helped with the bear but you didn't need help with the moose. haha Maybe I will see you while we are out chasing bambi around the mountain
