The story goes as follows, A friend and I were actually out looking for sheep and had no luck finding anything to our liking or legal for that matter. so after a few days of not finding nothing in sheep country we decided to head back down to the boat and rest our legs and eyes. We decided we would do some glassing from the boat and see what would could find after again finding no sheep to chase we started to find lots of goats. So after having picked one out we Left bright and early the next morning for the chase. we began hiking up a ridge working our way over to a low saddle when we suddenly realized between our goats and us was a sow and 2 cubs my goat dreams began to slowly fade as they started to make our way towards us. After watching them for about an hour or so and talking it over we decided the wind was right and we would push on regardless of having the bears 1000yards away from us. Then beore we knew it we were at the top of the ridge looking for our goat. The goat we had spotted the previous day that w figured was about 10+ turned out to be a nanny but after doing a little more glassing we soon go on a billy. There was 2 of them lying down on an open ridge we slowly began to crawl towards them till we were about 270yards we both decided this was the closest we could get without spooking them. I rested my gun on my pack and got the goats in sight. We got settled in we ranged them one more time to be sure and we let the video camera roll. With one slow squeeze of the trigger my gun barked out. The smaller billy quickly jumped up and looked at the other billy and seen no movement we held our position and waited for a half hour for the other billy to leave and went down to see the aftermath. It was picture perfect for my first goat hunt. 1 shot, 1 kill, first time out with new gun I couldnt have asked for a better day. we began quickly caping him out for a full mount and before I knew it we were making our way back down a different draw to avoid the bears we previously seen. But little did I know this draws ws th draw from hell. You know the kind where every willow grabs your laces every tree is fallen into the creek bed and the water ic over your boots and your pack is way to heavy. All that aside I had a great time and couldnt hardly wait to be picked up in the boat and head back to camp for a brew. ENJOY

What Zone were you in??

Limited entry or open season ????

Looks like beautiful country.....

Classy looking picture too !!! No blood or the tongue hanging out....I always forget to tuck her back in before I snap the pic...

This early in the season he should be good eating....Ever eaten a big billy taken the 2nd week of December? Terribly gamey.....If it wasn't an offense I would be tempted to leave it on the mountain...:x:x

Great looking billy and welcome to the site!

A nice late-season billy is high on my priority list....one year:?.

RockSteady- Hack the tongue off before you grab your camera...otherwise it always falls out. There's not much blood when you remove it.

The goat tastes great actually made some jerky and some hamburger and the ribs were the best so far. As far as the area I was hunting I must quote someone on the site "A bad hunter bullshits and a good hunter lies"
