You want to get the "long range shooting" poo pooers going....watch the goat cull at longe range video...what a gong show...they're shooting at 400 yds (which in my mind from hunting coyotes in the winter is completely doable shot) and still can't put down a goat without putting sometimes 3 rounds into it....oughta spark some conversation for sure!!

Wow! I think it's more a case of good preparation than luck. He obviously did his homework on that beauty. I'll not comment on the genetics.....

What does this have to do with the cranker whitey/muley hybrid thread?

Nice Whitey Chris. Congrats to Al. The largest component of Bowhunting is scouting followed closely by timing.

Thanks for the video.

(sure would like to see this in the bowhunting section)

If it looks like a whitetail and smells like a whitetail....... It must be a hybrid!!!

Obviously nothing....just watched the video while I was on the link and it sparked a comment.....

I haven't seen the buck myself in person but Al believes it to be a hybrid due to the coloration. As you can see it is definately grey like a mule deer. More striking than that is the black tip to the tail....it's definately a whitey shaped tail and it had been observed flagging in the past but it definately had the black tip of the tail like a muley. In the end theres now way we will ever really know, but it's interesting to speculate!!

Either way.....AWESOME, well earned buck AL!!!!

Chris

PS....whoever said I did a good job filming.... it wasn't me, it was a friend of Al's

Fantastic video. I am familiar with this particular deer and would love to see some genetic testing done on it to satisfy the ongoing debate. Actually bought a whitetail tag this year and have spent a bit of time looking for this particular buck. I guess that I don't have to worry about looking for him anymore. Am quite amazed at the increase in antler size from last year. He was a clean 5X5 that would have grossed about 125-130" in 2007.

There are several other deer in this particular herd that exhibit questionable genetics. I posted some photo's earlier in the year of a doe and fawn that looked strange.

Congrats to Al.

Good video and nice buck!

He is not a hybrid (no ands and buts about it) - he's a 100 percent whitey.

I can show you pictures of dark spots like that on whitey tails all the way from Pennsylvania where no muleys exist. You can have light coloured tails through to darker tails.

Great video, really well prepared I would say there was no luck involved just good old perseverence and preparation. Oh, and I think its a mulie.
