I'm working on a bear hopefully sooner than later but I'm curious as to where did you get it done and roughly how much should I expect to pay for one like yours. Thanks steeleco

$?,to tell you the truth I'd have to look for the receipt. I took that bear in 1999 opening day

I had it done by a arsehole, I won't say his name. But i will say i am no longer dealing with him  (messed me around with my sheep)

my bear is layed on double felt black them red. The black is suppose to make him look larger..?

Hey steeleco, it runs ruffly a 100 dollars a linear foot for rugs , if your looking for someone to ship it to once you get one let me know, I know a fellow that owns a taxidermy studio and has won awards for his work all over north america :D

BCHunter, I have a Pope & Young 18- 12/16 that I bought from a guy. I was wondering, what is the best way to attach the rug to the wall. Nails? Hooks?
My big problen is not enough wall to hang it with house cats..lol I wonder if they`ll bother it, eg chew the claws or scratch the hell out of it. I might post a pic once I hang it. I know I never shot it, but at least I can enjoy looking at it.

I have ringets attached to the rug so I can hang it

Sounds like a good way, I never even considered that option, thanks :D

Right now mine is on the floor, but last house it was on the wall with the ringets sewn onto the back of the rug which worked very well...jsut in case you wanted some re-assurance...

Hi guys. I'm new here. My buddy made me join. He's got a picture of my buck in with his pictures. Bill's pictures I believe it's under. Anyways as of about 6 weeks ago a rug will you between 150 to 175 a foot. The fellow that I use now does fantastic work and is quit reasonable. He charges 150 a foot for bears. His deer mounts run $375.00. Hope this helps. I'm still trying to figure out how to post pics.

welcome sticksnstones!!! No one here will hold it against your buddy  :D
The prices l am seeing seem to vary a bit and the numbers l got for doing up an elk and grizz are different too. My elk mount cost 375.00 from a fellow in Alberta ( shot it there), and my grizz was done by one of our local boys who is quit re-nowned for his work, and l think that was 140.00/ft. l remember black bear were less per/ft :?: maybe something in the way they have to do them. Both these prices are from a couple of years ago so they may have gone up since.

back to 416 , thats about right, the cost varients between black and grizz are usually the forms they have to buy, a grizz form being much larger and costly so they get you there, deer shoulder mounts run about 400 out here and its rufly 120 a foot now for black bears unless its a huge boar and they need a grizz form then you pay more
