Being new to hunting (a few years in now) I have never shot a coyote. I know the reasons why etc. that people do, however....what is done with it afterwards?

Do you take the pelt, do you leave it for mother nature to take care of, or what.

I have seen that RP likes to make soup of sorts, but I'll leave it for him.

Just curious what most do with it...

It looks like it would be a blast. No pun intended.

Legally you must remove them(the pelt) to your residence(or wherever).
Can't just leave them in the bush.

It might be a different rule if they were shot chasing livestock on private property but I'm not 100% sure of that.

Give 'em to Trappers if they have a good pelt, if not, they are not much good for anything.

Shoot two yote's. Then you make furry slippers with a head on each foot.

Besides the pelt you can always do something with the skull aswell. I've got a coyote skull hanging out now as we speak letting the bugs get at it.

Won't a taxidermist buy the pelt off you?

Dannybouy, without looking at the pic, I've seen some Yote fur cotes 1st hand. Absolutely GORGOUS, soft and supple.

My biggest fear is that it may make me not want to get up early and go hunt'n.

Well I just put a tape measure on it and its aprox 30" x 56" so each one is 30 x 14 " . That is using just the real nice parts and not the belly fur .... if you went to alberta or further north you might get alot more size . These were taken fairly local in monashee's . How about taking up wolf huntin ?

Baby steps..... I'm sure that one will lead to another,,, eventually.
Right now, yotes seem too me, to be a reasonable reality. Having never hunted either before, I base this on sightings when afield. I also believe that yotes are a bigger concern to ranchers than Wolves....

Call it my Conservation AND Economic contribution.
